Upon reaching the second floor, the enormous piano in the living room caught Joaquin’s eye. He glanced at it casually, then walked toward it. 

Romina followed his gaze. 

This piano had been bought by Jericho for Kashton. After they left, they bought a new one, so they didn’t take this one with them. For all these years, it had just been left here. 

He leaned against the piano, his gaze fixed on the master bedroom, saying nothing. 

The delivery was due tomorrow, and she still had work to do tonight. Otherwise, she wouldn’t be able to hand the vase over to the client on time. 

After thinking for a moment, Romina stepped forward and said, “Mr. Bowman, I still have some work to do, otherwise…” 

Before she could finish her sentence, Joaquin grabbed her wrist, spun her around, and pressed her against the piano. 

A chaotic burst of piano notes echoed through the living room on the second floor. 

“What else could you possibly be busy with at home? Is there another ‘client‘ waiting for you?” 

A sudden chill flashed in the depths of the man’s dark eyes. 

Romina looked up at him in disbelief. “No.” 

“If you need money, you can just tell me. Why do you have to do things this way?” 

Joaquin braced his hands on either side of the piano, trapping her within the circle of his 

arms. 

“Mr. Bowman, have you misunderstood something?” 

“You refuse to give in to me in person, but behind my back you do this? Do you think I can’t give you what you want? Or is it because I’m older and can’t satisfy you?” 

“Joaquin! What nonsense are you talking about?”

“What nonsense am I talking about?” Joaquin gritted his teeth. “Even when you were drugged, you wouldn’t sleep with me, but you went behind my back to find a sugar daddy?” 

Romina was stunned for a moment. 

So, he really had misunderstood. 

Romina’s heart ached dully for a moment, for reasons she couldn’t explain. 

It felt as if something had struck a soft spot deep inside her heart, hard and sudden. 

That feeling was sour and bitter, unbearably painful. 

Romina curled her lips into a cold smile. “So that’s what you think of me?” 

The man suddenly fell silent, staring at her without a word. 

“Mr. Bowman, I do have other work, but it’s not what you think. It’s just a side job, and it’s a legitimate one–not the kind of ‘business‘ you’re implying. Please don’t slander me like that! It’s really hurtful…..” 

Romina shoved him away and started toward the third floor. 

But suddenly, the man grabbed her wrist from behind. 

The next second, he lifted her up entirely. 

Joaquin set her down on the piano, cupped her face, and asked seriously, “What other work?” 

“Given the relationship between us, I don’t think I need to tell you every little detail, do I?” 

Her tone was cold and distant, her voice much lower than usual. 

“Let me ask you just one thing.” Joaquin suddenly pinched her chin. “Other than me, are you involved with any other men?” 

Seeing the coldness in his eyes, Romina instinctively swallowed. 

He must be angry. It was the first time she had ever seen him so serious. 

“I…” 

Before she could finish, the man silenced her with a kiss. 

Romina’s heart leapt into her throat in an instant.

Her hands, resting on either side, accidentally pressed the piano keys, making her whole body tremble in fright. 

She tried to push him away, her hands braced against his chest, but Joaquin caught her hands, giving her no chance to escape. 

The piano’s notes rose and fell, as chaotic as her heart at that moment–impossible to put into words. 

The man’s low, ragged breathing in her ear made her heart race uncontrollably. 

It took her only a minute to go from resisting him to finally giving in. 

When the man’s lips moved to her pale neck, Romina finally realized just how dangerous what she was doing really was. 

Snapping back to her senses, she grabbed the hand that was reaching for the hem of her dress. 

She looked at him with disheveled eyes. “Mr. Bowman, what exactly is our relationship now? What do I mean to you?” 

“I’ve told you before, as long as you’re willing, you can come to me anytime.” Desire flickered in Joaquin’s eyes. “I can give you everything you want.” 

Romina had wavered before, especially at this very moment. 

But she wasn’t divorced yet, and she was still stuck in the mud herself. How could she dare to drag him down with her? 

Besides, he still had someone else in his heart. 

She could be foolish once, but she would never be foolish a second time! 

“What I want, you can’t give me.”
