Chapter 92
“How dare you try to make excuses?” Elena glared at Camila.
“It’s my fault. I won’t dare to do it again,” Camila said with a big grin. She saw that Elena was packing up an oil painting, so she asked, “Did Zachary give this to you?”
“Yes,” Elena replied as she put the lid on the box before placing it in a paper bag. “I’m returning it to him.”
Camila clicked her tongue, shaking her head. “Lena, aren’t you being too heartless? Judging by what
Zachary said, he probably truly likes you. And he started having feelings for you a few years ago.”
“It’s precisely because of this that I should cut ties with him. I can’t give him any false hope,” said Elena.
It was already very awkward after the fiance mix-up. To make matters worse, Zachary truly had feelings
for her. If she didn’t make her stance clear, it would be bad for him.
“You’re right,” said Camila, grabbing a chocolate bar next to her. She opened the package before she
looked at Elena again and said, “Lena, I feel like you look different from a few days ago.”
“Really? How so?” Elena didn’t understand.
“I feel like you’re in a rather good mood.” Camila tilted her head and continued, “Is it because you found
out that your fiance is actually Alexander?”
Elena rubbed her face gently and asked, “Do I look like I’m in a good mood?”
“Yes.” Camila nodded firmly.
Elena looked down and tugged at the ribbon of the paper bag, twirling it twice around her finger before
she said softly, “I just feel like I’ve avoided unnecessary misunderstandings since I now know who my
true fiance is.”
She deliberately said it very calmly, but the tips of her ears turned rosy.
“Oh, save it. It’s not that easy to fool me,” said Camila.
“I’m not fooling you,” Elena
replied.
She tied the ribbon up and then took the paper bag out, ordering the maid to deliver it to Zachary. By the
time she came back, Camila had almost gone through the chocolate bar.
“Are you still going to Zachary’s exhibition?” Camila asked.
Elena shook her head. “No, I’m not.”
“I’m not going either, then. It’s obvious that the tickets weren’t meant for me when he gave them to me. If
you’re not going, then I’ll just return the tickets to him,” said Camila.
Elena said nothing else, but she picked up her phone to glance at it.
Alexander hadn’t called or texted her ever since
then.
She thought of taking the initiative to get hold of him, but she was afraid she would interrupt his business and cause him trouble. She had no choice but to hold herself back.
“Lena, are you… waiting for Alexander’s call?” Camila asked softly.
Elena was speechless. She really couldn’t hide anything from Camila.
“Oh, yes!” Camila exclaimed as she suddenly remembered something. She threw the empty packet into the trash can and asked solemnly, “Justin hasn’t been harassing you, right?”
“No,” Elena replied. Or she should say that he would not be able to even if he wanted to. She had changed
her number.
“That’s good.” Camila’s face was icy as she said, “He’d better not run into me or I’ll give him a tight slap.
No, not just one slap.”
“You’d better not.” Elena looked sorry for her. “Don’t dirty your hand.”
“It’s fine. I’m not afraid of getting dirty. I can just wash my hands more often. It’s not a big deal,” Camila
replied.
