Chapter 91
“I’m very happy that you were able to call as well, Mr. Golden,” Elena said softly. “I… I’ll wait for your safe
return.”
Alexander felt his breath quicken when he heard that.
“Alright, I’ll return safely,” he said in a husky voice.
The disconnected tone sounded after he hung up, but Elena held onto her phone for a long time, not putting it down.
Meanwhile, the air Alexander exuded changed the moment he ended the call. He looked up, and his surroundings instantly became charged with his vicious presence.
The foreign man groveling at his feet couldn’t help but shudder.
“I-it’s pointless even if you guys ask me. I really have no idea where this Dr. Campbell that you’re looking
for-”
Before he could even finish his sentence, he took another solid blow. Failing to hold it in, he let out a
scream again.
Alexander looked down at him as if he were truly looking at a pig.
Leonard, on the other hand, stood next to him, bending over as he whispered in Alexander’s ear, “Mr.
Golden, this man is tight-lipped.”
Alexander tapped his finger slowly on the armrest of the leather chair. His voice was icy as he said, “It’s
not that he’s tight-lipped. You guys are just not ruthless enough.”
“Understood,” Leonard replied.
They were conversing in their native tongue, but the foreigner clearly understood them.
He started trembling violently, sweating so much that he drenched his clothes. He whimpered as blood oozed out of his wrists that were tied to his back. He was supposed to be wearing Yvonne’s custom
watch, but all that had been left behind was a bruised ligature.
He had never expected that Alexander would have him tied up as soon as the latter got off the plane. It was obvious that Alexander was well-prepared.
“I really have no idea!” The man tried to put on one last fight as he screamed, “I’m nothing but a lowly underling in the organization! I only got that watch after I begged for it with all my might.
“Only a few higher-ups know where Dr. Campbell is. After all, they want to use her to blackmail the Golden family for ransom!”
Yvonne had been abducted by a local criminal gang during the riot. They had wanted to sell her off, but they had accidentally learned from the contents of her phone that she was connected to Golden Group.
They were from an extremely remote area, but they had heard of Golden Group as well. That was how they had gotten the idea to ask Golden Group for ransom.
Of course, with their usual practice, they wouldn’t let her go, even if the ransom had been paid by Golden
Group.
Alexander sneered.
Right at that moment, Leonard bent over and took out the blade hidden in his boots. The edge of the blade cut through the air under the light, tracing a silver arc as it sheared a lock of hair right by the
foreigner’s ear.
The foreigner subconsciously screamed at the top of his lungs. The feeling of struggling while on the brink of death was truly terrible.
Leonard lifted the foreigner’s collar with his blade, revealing the hideous scar branded on the back of his
neck.
“I’ll count to three,” Alexander said so calmly that it was as if he were just discussing the weather tomorrow. “If you don’t tell me, I’ll make you the appetizer for the vultures in the desert.”
“It’s all my fault, dear mighty Lena! Punish me as harshly as you want!” Camila exclaimed. She almost collapsed on the bed after she learned the truth from Elena.
She did think that she would hear it wrong. To think that she had actually misheard Alexander as Zachary
Elena poked her forehead resignedly. “I won’t ever believe you again when you’re drunk.”
Camila must have been drunk that night and misheard the names in her dazed state.
“Well, you can’t exactly blame everything on me,” Camila said softly. “I heard them discussing Zachary’s exhibition… I didn’t think they would be talking about those two people and those two things together.”
