Chapter 80
Nadine said, “Didn’t I tell you before to not call me without my permission?”
The man on the other end of the line stammered when he heard Nadine’s angry question, “I-I know, but you didn’t reply to my messages. Y-you’ve ignored me for days now. Nadi, I miss you so much.”
“I couldn’t care less about you. Don’t bother me!”
“Nadi, can’t you return to my side?” The man’s voice sounded sad and disappointed. “I know I can’t compare to Justin right now, but I’ll work hard and make my company surpass Riggs Group…”
“Enough of that. Can you stop being so naive? How long would it take for your pathetic little company to catch up to Riggs Group?” Nadine’s tone was full of disdain.
After saying that, she warned him sharply, “Don’t you dare go looking for Justin! I’m warning you, I’ll never speak to you again if you let him find out the truth!”
“Nadi, don’t worry. I won’t do anything that would upset you. I only want to make you happy,” he said
bitterly.
Nadine merely sneered when she heard his words. Suddenly, a thought crossed her mind at that moment. “You said that you want me to be happy?”
“Of course!” the man replied eagerly. “I’m willing to do anything as long as it makes you happy!”
“Great. There’s something I need you to do for me right now.”
“Say it, Nadi.”
A venomous look flashed in Nadine’s eyes. “Do you still remember Elena?”
“Of course I remember. She’s the woman who got into an accident two years ago, Justin’s girlfriend.”
“You don’t have to elaborate!” Nadine rebuked him angrily. She took a deep breath and continued, “I need
you to track her down and get rid of her.”
Josephine was watching her too closely right now, so she couldn’t make a move herself. But that didn’t
matter. She could let someone else do the deed for her. Besides, she could wash her hands clean of this
incident if it were to blow up in the future.
But the man didn’t agree right away. He said hesitantly, “Nadi, if Elena dies… What about you and Justin?”
“You just told me you’d do anything for me!”
There was silence on the other end of the call.
Clenching her fists, Nadine switched her tone into a pleading and pitiful one. “Do you even know how much I’ve suffered since returning to the country?”
“What? Were you hurt?” the man asked anxiously.
Nadine twirled the tassels on her silk nightdress between her fingers. Her voice sounded pitiful, but the expression on her face was cold. “Yes, Elena has been targeting me from the moment I came back. She rallied the others in the company to ostracize me and stole the credit for my work.
“Do you know what the worst part is? Because of her false accusations, I was thrown into a holding cell not too long ago! Do you know how many beatings I suffered there?”
“How dare she do that to you?” the man roared in anger. Sounds of things crashing as they got smashed
could be heard from his end of the call.
The corners of Nadine’s lips curved upward. She didn’t seem surprised at all. In fact, it was as though she
had expected such a reaction from him.
“That’s right. Besides, Justin still cares about her. He even shoved me to the ground because of her. My
knee is still red from the fall.”
“Nadi, I… I didn’t know that you suffered so much…”
“So, you really won’t help me get rid of Elena? That’s alright. I’ll just go on enduring this suffering then.”
“No way! Nadi, I understand now. I’ll take care of Elena for you.”
“Good. I’ll wait for your good news.”
After hanging up, Nadine walked over to the floor-length windows. She let out a chuckle as she gazed out
at Slushire’s night view.
That man might appear timid and submissive in front of her, but Nadine knew all too well how ruthless he
could be once he decided to strike.
“Elena, that car accident two years ago failed to kill you. This time, I refuse to believe you can cheat death
once more!” she thought.
