Chapter 79

Justin suddenly pushed Nadine, who was clinging to his neck at the moment, away from him.

“Oh!” Caught off guard, she fell to the ground and hit her knee against the corner of a coffee table. Nadine looked up and stared at Justin in disbelief. “Jus?”

“I’m sorry.” A flicker of unease flashed across Justin’s face as he reached out his hand to help Nadine up. Then, he turned away and continued asking Michael on the phone, “She said she’s not in Slushire anymore? Then where is she?”

“I don’t know. She didn’t tell me. She even blocked my number. Well, that’s not my fault now, is it?” Michael said cautiously.

Justin ignored his question and hung up. The expression on his face was stone-cold.

Meanwhile, Nadine stood there in silence. The throbbing pain in her knee was no match for the shock she felt from within.

She noticed the tension in Justin’s shoulders as he faced away from her, and her fingers unconsciously clutched the folds of her silk nightdress.

Justin had been so tender and affectionate with her just moments ago. He had coaxed her softly, saying that Elena couldn’t compare to her.

Yet in a blink of an eye, he had pushed her to the ground when he heard that the woman had left Slushire.

“Jus, you hurt me…” Nadine whined in a choked voice to stir up Justin’s sympathy.

Turning his head, Justin swept his gaze over her reddened knee, and his brows furrowed imperceptibly However, there was still a hint of frustration in his voice. “I’ll have the family doctor come over.”

Justin took out his phone, but he didn’t call the family doctor. Instead, he pulled up his assistant’s number. “Investigate Elena’s travel records. Track her down as fast as possible and send the information

to me.”

Nadine’s heart sank gradually. She went over to Justin’s side and tried to take his arm. Justin didn’t pull away, but he also didn’t spare her a glance.

She coaxed him gently, “Jus, don’t be anxious. Maybe Elena just wanted to clear her head. After all, she just resigned, and work was exhausting back then. She must have gone on a vacation to another city and will probably be back in a few days.”

What Nadine said didn’t sound improbable, but Justin still felt an emptiness inside his heart. The thought

of not knowing Elena’s whereabouts weighed heavily on his chest, almost suffocating him.

“Alright, don’t work yourself up anymore.” Nadine wrapped her arms around his neck once more. She stood on tiptoe to kiss his Adam’s apple. “Jus, I know you’re upset right now. Let me help you destress…”

“There’s no need.” Justin had no interest in her at all right now. He reached up and pried her hands off his neck. “Nadi, it’s getting late. You should go and rest.”

Nadine was unwilling to give up and tried to tease him further, but Justin wasn’t moved. Instead, his expression grew colder. “Nadi, enough!”

“Alright, I understand.” A look of resentment flashed in Nadine’s eyes as she turned around and left. Back in her room, she swept all the pillows and blankets off her bed onto the floor.

Justin was such a hypocrite! He charmed her with sweet words, yet the moment he heard Elena wasn’t in

Slushire, he panicked.

Well, it was to be expected. If Justin could deceive Elena, why wouldn’t he be able to deceive Nadine too?

Speaking of Elena, Nadine thought she was also a two-faced vixen. She could even use such tactics to

draw Justin’s attention.

No-Nadine couldn’t let Elena have her way.

She didn’t want to remain as Justin’s adopted sister. That wasn’t enough. She wouldn’t stand by and allow

Elena to strut proudly in front of her someday…

Suddenly, Nadine’s phone rang. Her expression changed drastically when she saw the caller ID. She quickly locked her bedroom door before answering the call.
