Chapter 78

Elena answered the call coldly, “Mr. Cooper.”

“Elena, you finally picked up. Oh, I’m not disturbing you, am I?” Michael asked.

Elena merely sneered. If he was really that afraid of disturbing her, he wouldn’t have dialed her number right after she had rejected his initial call.

She said icily, “Mr. Cooper, Justin and I have already broken up. Please don’t address me in such a casual manner anymore. Besides, there’s no need for us to stay in contact from now on.”

“Huh?” Michael was stunned for a moment. He said hurriedly, “Don’t be like that! Ele-Ms. Miller, we’ve known each other for years now. You don’t necessarily have to cut ties with all of us even if you really broke up with Justin, right?”

Elena was decisive. “There’s no need for us to stay in contact either.”

Justin’s circle of friends probably knew about his situation with Nadine. As Elena thought back, she realized that their reactions had always been a little odd whenever Nadine’s name was mentioned in her presence during their past gatherings.

They would either avoid her gaze or cast knowing looks at Justin.

Back then, Elena had never imagined such a possibility, so she hadn’t thought too much about it. Of course, she couldn’t care less whether they knew about it or not anymore. She was even less willing to have any interaction with them in the future. She wanted to avoid getting entangled with Justin again.

But Michael insisted shamelessly, “Your words put so much distance between us. Ms. Miller, we’re all friends here. If Justin did anything wrong to you, we can help you beat him up! Ahem, let’s talk about this

later.

“Anyway, my birthday’s coming up in a few days. I’d like to invite everyone out for a meal. You should

come too.”

He added before Elena could respond, “Justin already said he won’t be coming since he’s busy. You don’t have to worry about that.”

There was a hint of impatience in Elena’s voice. “Mr. Cooper, I think I’ve made myself very clear. There’s no reason for me to keep in touch with you. I won’t be attending your birthday party either.”

Why did all of Justin’s friends fail to understand plain language just like him?

“Don’t be like that-”

Elena interrupted Michael to stop him from bothering her further. “What’s more, I’m no longer in Slushire. Please don’t contact me again for any reason. Otherwise, I won’t be as polite as I am today.”

With that, she hung up without hesitation. Then, she blocked Michael’s phone number along with all of

Justin’s other friends.

No, that wouldn’t do. Elena decided to go and get a new SIM card tomorrow in case they tried contacting her with another number.

On his end, Michael was frozen in shock for a long while. He called back in a hurry, only to realize that Elena had blocked his number.

“Damn, is she serious?” Michael broke out in a cold sweat. Judging from Elena’s reaction, he had a

sudden feeling that she wasn’t just throwing a tantrum as Justin had claimed. She clearly wanted to break up with him!

For someone who loved Justin that much… Just how much must she have suffered to be so resolute in

cutting off all ties with him?

Nonetheless, this wasn’t something Michael should be concerned with right now. Since he couldn’t get Elena to show up, he had no way to complete the task Justin had given him. After some thought, he decided to pass on Elena’s words exactly as she spoke earlier.

Michael gave Justin a call. “Justin, I just called Elena a moment ago. I told her about my birthday and invited her to come to my party, but she refused. She said she’s already left Slushire.”

“What did you say?” Justin demanded.
