Chapter 72

On the way to the hotel, Camila received a call from a friend who was going to the party too. The friend said he wanted to bring someone along who was also interested in joining.

“Of course, bring them along,” Camila replied cheerfully. “As long as it’s not some random shady person,

the more the merrier.”

“Don’t worry, they’re definitely not shady!”

Camila didn’t think much of it. But she hadn’t expected that the friend who had tagged along would turn

out to be Zachary.

At that moment, they were just about to gather around Elena to cut the cake. Camila had gone out of her way to have it custom-made for this event. It was a five-tier cake topped with a little figurine of Elena

wearing a cape and a crown.

“Camila, this feels just like a birthday party for Elena,” someone teased.

“So what? We’re celebrating her new start! It’s basically a birthday!” Camila waved it off.

“A new start? What do you mean by that?”

Camila coughed. “It’s best not to ask about things you don’t need to know!”

As she said that, she looked around. “Is anyone still not here?”

“Peter hasn’t arrived yet.”

Peter Burke was the friend who had called to say he was bringing a friend.

Camila said, “What’s going on with him? Why is he so late? Maybe we shouldn’t wait any longer…”

Before Camila could finish, a man’s apologetic voice was heard. “Sorry, we’re late. Something came up

and delayed us a little.”

Everyone turned around to look, including Elena.

The moment Elena’s gaze landed on the newcomer, her eyes trembled slightly. Walking toward them were two young men. One was Peter, and the other was none other than Zachary.

“Peter, you mean to tell me that the friend you were bringing is Zach…” Even Camila was stunned.

“Yes, are you surprised?” Peter grinned. “Zach’s been swamped with work for his art exhibition. He was really worn out, so I dragged him along to relax a little.”

“It really is Zachary Golden!”

“The artist! I even bought a ticket to your exhibition.”

“Could you sign something for me later?”

“When exactly is the exhibition?”

The crowd’s attention shifted entirely to Zachary, which instantly made Camila unhappy. “Hey, don’t forget. Today’s event is for Elena!”

Even if Zachary was going to be Elena’s fiancé, he couldn’t be stealing the spotlight at her welcome party.

Everyone hurriedly said, “Of course not, how could we forget Lena?”

It wasn’t that they meant to overlook Elena; it was just that Zachary rarely showed up in public, so it was a

shock to see him there.

With his usual air of calm grace, Zachary said, “We’re all here for the welcome party. I’m just tagging along as Peter’s guest. Please don’t mind me.”

Then, he turned toward Elena and gave her a slight nod. “Ms. Miller, welcome back to Hupolis.”

Elena recovered from her surprise and smiled politely. “Thank you, Mr. Golden.”

She hadn’t expected that her first meeting with her future fiance after returning would happen here, at her

own welcome party.

“Alright then, since everyone’s here, let’s cut the cake.”

The group surrounded Elena, encouraging her to make the first cut.

Zachary picked up the cake knife from the side and, with a natural motion, turned the handle toward

Elena.

Elena paused slightly, looking up to see the amusement in his eyes.

The others could faintly sense something unusual between the two. Meanwhile, Camila’s eyes were practically sparkling as she stared at them.

They really did look like a perfect match.
