Chapter 67
“That’s nonsense.” Elena smiled. “Him? Right now, he’s no different from trash to me.”
After learning about those cruel truths, the Elena who had once cared so deeply for Justin had completely
disappeared.
She could admit that she had been foolish before, but if she kept being foolish after knowing the truth, then even she would lose all respect for herself.
Camila replied, “That’s good then. Don’t think about him anymore. Just come back and happily date our genius painter here!”
Elena instinctively replied, “Stop speaking nonsense.”
“Where’s the nonsense? You two are about to be engaged. Doesn’t that mean you’ll be in a relationship?” Camila replied.
Elena found herself unable to refute Camila’s words. “Let’s just take things as they come.”
“Alright, I’m going to play some games. Go to sleep early. I’ll be waiting for you to come back!” With that, Camila ended the video call.
Elena put on another face mask. At that moment, she was incredibly calm, and her mind was exceptionally clear.
Since she had agreed to the engagement, she had to take responsibility for her words.
Occasionally, the slightest ripple did appear in her heart because of someone who had unexpectedly stepped into her world. However, things needed to return to the way they were in the end.
On the morning of the 15th, Elena arrived at the airport on time. By the time she got there, she saw that Alexander was already waiting there.
Elena smiled calmly when her gaze fell on him. “Good morning, Mr. Golden.”
“Good morning, Ms. Miller,” Alexander replied, studying her carefully.
For some reason, he felt like something was off about Elena that day. Her smile was polite and calm, but she also seemed relieved somehow.
He thought that it was probably because she was about to leave Slushire. She was probably letting go of everything in the past.
They boarded the plane together. Alexander’s private jet had some small rooms. After chatting briefly with him, Elena went into her own room.
Alexander stood outside her door and lifted his hand to knock, only to let it fall in the end.
They would soon be back at Hupolis anyway. After that, they would have plenty of time to spend together.
The plane landed in Hupolis, and the moment Elena stepped out, a surge of complicated emotions rose
within her.
It had been so long since she had last been home.
She took a deep breath of the dry air and unconsciously rubbed the handle of her suitcase with her
fingers.
Oliver came forward to take her luggage, but she politely thanked him and declined.
Oliver looked toward Alexander, who said to Elena, “We’ll send you back home.”
“Thank you, Mr. Golden, but my family’s already sent a car to pick me up,” Elena replied with a smile. “It should already be waiting at the airport entrance.”
Alexander didn’t insist when he heard that.
“Mr. Golden…” Elena looked at him, wanting to thank him again. But was the debt she owed him really something that could be repaid with a simple thank you?
So, in the end, she only said, “Goodbye.”
Alexander met her gaze and said in an indecipherable tone, “Yes. We’ll be seeing each other again soon.”
Given the relationship between their families, his words seemed perfectly natural. So, Elena didn’t overthink it as she pulled her suitcase and turned to leave.
The sharp, steady clicks of her heels echoed as the distance between her and Alexander grew wider.
