Chapter 63
Alfred asked, “Mr. Golden, are you going to buy something? Let me do it.”
“No need,” Alexander said and walked toward the pharmacy.
Not long after that, he returned with a tube of ointment in his hand.
Looking at the ointment, Elena suddenly realized what it was for as she looked down at the faint red marks that still lingered on her wrist.
After Alexander got back into the car, he handed Elena the ointment.
She accepted it, saying, “Thank you.”
The wound on her wrist wasn’t that serious, but it was a kind gesture from Alexander.
Alexander didn’t say anything else, and Alfred restarted the car.
Soon, the car stopped outside Elena’s residence. Perhaps it was because she was tense from the incident with Justin earlier, but Elena felt a little carsick.
Alexander got out first and went around to open the door for Elena.
The night breeze carried the fragrance of blooming flowers. As she stepped down, she missed a step, and Alexander quickly reached out and steadied her by the waist.
“Careful.” His palm still felt warm despite the thin fabric of her clothes separating them. It made Elena pull back as if she were burned, and she hurriedly thanked him.
Alexander’s hand froze in mid-air before he calmly withdrew it, but the soft sensation seemed to linger at
his fingertips.
“Remember to use the ointment.” His tone left no room for refusal as his gaze fell on the red marks on
Elena’s wrist.
“Yes, I will.” Elena looked at the ointment in her hand before looking up at Alexander. “Mr. Golden, thank
you so much for tonight.”
“There’s no need for that.” Alexander looked like he was about to raise his hand, but he lowered it back
naturally. “Go in first. I’ll leave after you’re inside.”
“Okay.” Elena bid him goodbye and walked into her house.
Just as the gate was about to close, she felt an urge to look back at him, but she didn’t in the end.
Meanwhile, Justin wasn’t feeling great and had Michael take him to the hospital.
Fortunately, the doctor said he had only sustained minor injuries. It was nothing serious, and he would be
fine after a few days’ rest.
Even so, the dull ache in his chest seemed to linger, and his expression was grim.
“Hey, Justin, what on earth happened back there?” Michael was sitting nearby and couldn’t stop himself from prying despite the dark look on Justin’s face. “Who was that man? Don’t tell me he has feelings for Elena. And the way she treated you-”
“Shut up.” Justin’s expression soured even more.
Michael grinned. “I’m just trying to help you out. From the way you look, you still care about her. If that’s the case, you’d better hurry up and win her back! I don’t think she can bring herself to actually leave you. You know better than anyone else what you mean to her.”
Those words eased Justin’s mood ever so slightly.
Michael said, “But that man sure has some guts. How dare he go after someone important to you? Justin, do you want me to teach him a lesson for you?”
Justin looked at him and asked with a half-smile, “Do you know who he is?”
Michael paused. “Who? He looked familiar, but I couldn’t figure it out.”
Justin replied, “Alexander Golden.”
“Alex…” Michael’s expression changed.
Alexander Golden. It was actually him.
He was the Prince of Hupolis. What had he been doing back there? And how was he connected to Elena?
More importantly, Michael had even raised his voice at Alexander earlier. If Alexander held a grudge, then both Michael and the Cooper family were finished.
