Chapter 62
A car quickly pulled up in front of Elena and Alexander after they left the club. Alexander opened the door for her, making his invitation obvious.
After hesitating for a moment, Elena got in the car.
After all, Alexander had just helped her. She would seem far too cold and ungrateful if she refused a ride
from him.
It seemed like she owed him once again. She couldn’t repay him right away, but she could at least say
thanks.
They both sat in the back while Alfred quietly focused on the road. Elena was the first to speak up. “Mr.
Golden, thank you for what you did just now.”
“It’s nothing,” Alexander replied calmly.
However, Elena suddenly felt something was off. “Why were you there?”
Could he have also been at the club that night? But Jared hadn’t mentioned anything.
Suddenly, there was a flicker of uneasiness on Alexander’s face. However, it only lasted for a moment,
and Elena didn’t notice it.
He quickly regained his composure and said, “I happened to be there tonight as well. A friend invited me
out.”
“I see.” Elena nodded.
Jared probably hadn’t known that Alexander was there either. It wasn’t as if Alexander needed to report his whereabouts to Jared everywhere he went.
Elena chided herself for being silly.
Alexander let out a quiet sigh of relief when he saw that Elena wasn’t suspicious.
His phone buzzed with a message from Rachel. “How are things? Did you manage to save Lena?”
Alexander replied, “She’s fine. She’s with me.”
After sending that message, he glanced at Elena. The moment he picked up his phone, she had politely turned to look out the window, not prying into his business.
He got another message. “That’s good. Who was that brat who dared to bully my future daughter-in-law?”
Before he could respond, another string of messages came.
“Wait, could he be that boyfriend she was with for five years?”
“What a shameless man. I can’t believe he’s still bothering her. But I guess Lena’s taste wasn’t great
before this. How could that guy be anything compared to my handsome son?”
Alexander frowned helplessly and replied, “Mom, let’s not talk about her personal matters.”
Rachel texted, “I know, I know. I don’t mean any harm. I just feel sorry for her. A woman only has so many years, and she wasted five on someone who didn’t treasure her. What a pity when she’s such a good
woman.”
Alexander clenched his fists tightly as a complicated look crossed his face.
“In any case, you must treat her well and never hurt her!”
Rachel might have been the picture of elegance in public, but she was endlessly talkative at home. However, Alexander was a reserved man, just like his father. So, even with the barrage of messages, he merely replied with a simple, “Okay.”
“You brat, can’t you type more than one word?” Rachel responded.’
Alexander texted, “Have you managed to contact Dr. Campbell?”
Rachel replied, “Not yet. I’ll let you know as soon as I do. She’s probably somewhere without a signal again. I wonder if it’s a dangerous place. I’ve already sent people to look for her, so don’t worry.”
“Alright.”
After he finished messaging Rachel, Alexander looked up and spotted a pharmacy ahead. He
immediately said, “Stop the car.”
Alfred quickly pulled over.
Elena looked at Alexander with a puzzled expression. “What is it?”
“Wait here.” Alexander stepped out, and Alfred followed him in a hurry.
