Chapter 61
Alexander didn’t respond to Justin right away. Instead, he turned slightly and whispered so only Elena could hear him, “Are you alright?”
Something in his voice carried a quiet strength that seemed to ease Elena’s nerves.
Justin caught the subtle air of intimacy between them and became furious. He snapped at Alexander, What is the meaning of this?”
“It’s nothing at all.” Alexander looked at Justin coldly. “I came here to pick her up.”
“Lena doesn’t need you to pick her up,” Justin retorted defiantly.
But when Alexander noticed the red marks on Elena’s wrist, the anger in his eyes burned even fiercer than
Justin’s.
Before Justin could get another word out, Alexander launched a kick, sending him sprawling backward.
Justin was caught completely off guard. He crashed onto the marble floor, and pain shot through his back
and chest.
He looked up in disbelief. Alexander had actually dared to hit him?
But when Justin tried to say something, he met Alexander’s gaze and found the words stuck in his throat. Those usually calm eyes now carried a stormy, almost violent fury.
“Oh my god, Justin! Are you alright?” Michael, who had been hiding and watching, realized that things were about to go very wrong.
He rushed forward to help Justin up before glaring at Alexander. “Who do you think you are, laying a hand on Justin? Are you tired of living?”
Alexander didn’t even bother acknowledging Michael. His attention stayed locked on Justin as he said viciously, “Justin, you’ve got some nerve.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Justin barked angrily. Yet, his anger seemed utterly feeble in front of Alexander.
Alexander let out a cold laugh. Since Justin didn’t understand what he was saying, saying anything more would just be a waste of time.
Alexander felt his rage slowly subsiding, replaced with a surge of heartache for Elena.
She had been with this man for five years. Just how much had she silently suffered through during all that time?
“Let’s go.” Alexander turned around to look at Elena. His voice was so gentle that it was as if all his earlier viciousness was just an illusion.
Elena stared at him blankly.
Of course, she felt no sympathy for Justin and felt like he had gotten what he deserved. But she had never expected Alexander to do anything to Justin, and yet, he had even kicked the latter.
“Are you lost in thought?” Alexander asked.
“No…” Elena snapped back to reality. “Let’s go.”
No matter what, getting away from Justin was her top priority.
As the two of them walked away side by side, Justin tried to stop them, but the pain in his stomach caused him to break out in a cold sweat. It hurt so much that he could barely move.
Michael asked, “Justin, are you okay? Who was that guy? What’s his connection with Elena-”
“Shut up!” Justin cut him off sharply. “You’d better not breathe a single word of what happened to anyone
else! If I find out that you told anyone, then you’re done for!”
“Alright, alright. I got it.” Michael nodded quickly.
Thankfully, this was a high-end club with few people coming and going. No one had passed by throughout
the entire conflict.
Even so, the more Justin demanded secrecy, the more restless Michael felt. He had recorded the video of the whole thing just now. If he didn’t share it with someone, then what was the whole point of recording it in the first place?
