Chapter 55
Elena worked diligently and finally welcomed the day the project successfully wrapped up.
The business partners were overjoyed and showered her with compliments, to which she responded with a polite smile.
She only wanted to see things through to the end and give her hardworking teammates the recognition they deserved.
Now that the project was complete, everyone on the team would receive a sizable bonus. For Elena, it meant that she could finally sever all ties with Justin. So, her heart felt lighter than ever.
Back at the company, the team gathered around and chatted, insisting that they would treat her to dinner or buy her gifts.
Elena said with a smile, “There’s no need for any of that. It’s been an honor to work with all of you these past few years. Take care of yourselves.”
Everyone was stunned.
“Ms. Miller, do you mean you’re leaving?”
“Are you resigning? But why?”
Elena didn’t answer. She simply walked to her desk and took out the resignation letter she had already
prepared.
The moment they saw the resignation letter, everyone realized that she was serious.
“Someone whispered, “Well, after everything she’s been through, who could blame her for resigning? If she stayed, who knows what else Ms. Riggs might do?”
“Maybe she wanted to leave a long time ago, but she stayed just to finish this project.”
“She really just wanted to fulfill her responsibilities to us…”
A few of the younger colleagues even had tears in their eyes.
Meanwhile, Elena was already stepping into Justin’s office with her resignation letter in hand.
At that moment, the lounge area of Justin’s office was filled with a charged, intimate atmosphere. Most
of Nadine’s clothes were already disheveled, and her arm was looped around Justin’s neck.
“Jus…” she whispered.
Justin’s gaze darkened as he felt his throat tighten. “You little minx. Don’t you realize we’re at the office?”
“So what? It’s not the first time we’ve done this here…” Nadine leaned in and pressed her lips to his.
Justin was already in the mood. Just as he was about to undo the buttons of his shirt, he suddenly heard

some footsteps outside.
He gently pushed Nadine aside. “Someone’s coming in. I’ll go take a look.”
“Who would dare enter your office without permission? Is it Elena?” Nadine muttered unhappily.
Justin didn’t answer her. He merely straightened his clothes and got up before stepping out of the lounge.
When he saw Elena, a smile appeared on his face. “Lena, the project’s finally over. You’ve worked hard, Tonight, let’s…”
Before he could finish, Elena placed an envelope on his desk. He looked confused as he asked, “What’s
this?”
Elena replied, “Mr. Riggs, this is my resignation letter.”
Justin’s expression darkened instantly. “What is the meaning of this? You want to resign?”
“Yes.” Elena smiled faintly, though there was a cold glint in her eyes. “From now on, whether it’s for business or personal matters, I ask that you no longer contact me.”
“Lena!” Justin clenched his fists tightly. “You’d better think this through. Resignation isn’t a joke. If you insist on leaving now, then you might never be able to come back to the company in the future!”
Elena smiled mockingly. “That’s fine. You just need to explain why Nadine can stroll into the office whenever she pleases.”
Justin’s gaze was fixed on her. “You haven’t been coming home, and you’re trying to resign now. Where are you going to go? Are you going to that so-called relative of yours? What kind of job could he possibly give you?”
Elena replied, “There’s no need for you to worry about that, Mr. Riggs.”
