Chapter 50

After thinking it over, Elena said, “A marriage alliance isn’t a trivial matter, so I’ll treat it seriously. Since I’ve already agreed to it, I’ll do my best to get along with my fiancé.”

After that, Elena smiled at Alexander. “You don’t have to worry,”

“I don’t have to worry?” Alexander asked.

“Yes.” Elena nodded earnestly.

She thought that Alexander was probably asking out of concern as a member of the Golden family. As the elder cousin, it was only natural for him to be concerned about his younger cousin’s marriage.

It took a long while before Alexander let out a soft grunt of acknowledgement.

The car stopped in front of the Lumorian-style residence Elena was living in at the moment. She thanked Alexander and was just about to get out when he suddenly asked, “There’s a movie premiere on the 22nd of next month. Would you like to go together?”

Elena froze and turned back to look at him.

Alexander’s face didn’t betray much emotion, but there was a faint seriousness in his eyes.

Elena actually enjoyed watching movies. That premiere in particular was a long-awaited masterpiece by a famous director, and it was also her favorite genre. Despite her hectic schedule, she had made time to

follow the news about it.

She hadn’t expected Alexander to suddenly invite her.

By the 22nd of next month, she would already have returned to Hupolis. By then, she would have met Zachary as well. Then, what would it look like if she went to the movies with Alexander at that time?

Elena smiled politely. “No, thank you. I don’t really like movies. Goodbye, Mr. Golden.”

With that, she opened the car door and stepped out.

As Alexander watched Elena’s figure disappear into the residence, he remained silent for a long time before his lips suddenly curved into a faint smile. “Liar.”

She had already lied to him twice that night-no, three times.

She had said that she would put effort into getting along with her fiance, but she couldn’t even agree to watch a movie with him. But that was fine; they still had plenty of time.

She had just come out of a failed relationship. How could he possibly force her to throw herself into a new one right away?

For now, the most important thing was for him to soothe her pain and ease her nightmares. As for the rest, he was willing to wait.

Golden in the future.”

Jared was taken aback. “Why?”

“He’s already helped me a lot, and I owe him too much. If this keeps up, I’ll never be able to repay him,”

Elena said.

“But…” Jared hesitated.

Elena said, “Mr. Pittman, I know our families are arranging a marriage alliance.”

“You do?” Jared only became more confused when he heard that.

If she already knew about the arrangement between their families, then why would she still say such

things? No matter what the outcome was, wasn’t it natural for Alexander to do a bit more for her?

Elena said, “Yes, but even so, I can’t trouble him with every little thing.”

Jared smiled wryly. “Lena, you’re being far too considerate. There’s no need to be so careful about things. Mr. Golden is-”

Before Jared could finish, his secretary rushed over and reported something in a panic. It seemed like something had gone wrong at work.

He immediately snapped, “You can’t even handle something so minor?”

“Mr. Pittman, you should get back to work,” Elena said.
