Chapter 45

“Being over-confident is never a good thing,” said Elena.

She checked her time and added, “The meeting’s about to start, Mr. Riggs. You’d better stop talking

nonsense.”

She then turned to leave, but Justin called out after her. Watching her back, he warned, “Lena, stay away from the Golden guy.”

“You have no right to tell me what to do,” she said impatiently.

“His intentions toward you aren’t pure,” he said.

She burst into laughter. “Mr. Riggs, instead of worrying about that, why don’t you think about whether you’ve gone too far, to the point where people can’t stand the sight of you?”

With that, she pushed open the office door and walked out.

He watched her leave with a bitter taste in his heart. He had waited for her to come to him and make peace, but she never did. When he finally put aside his pride to reconcile, she didn’t yield either.

“Lena, just how far do you want me to go before you’re satisfied?” he thought.

After the meeting with the client wrapped up, it was already time to get off work. Elena left the company without so much as a glance in Justin’s direction, leaving him all frustrated.

At that moment, a senior executive named Greg Harrison came up to Justin with a report.

“We’ve been trying to contact Miller Group, but they never responded… Mr. Riggs, I think maybe they’re not. keen on a collaboration with us,” said Greg cautiously.

Justin’s face darkened, and he barked, “You can’t even handle something this simple. Am I keeping you around just to feed a bunch of useless people?”

Greg’s face stiffened. He wanted to argue that working with Miller Group was hardly a small matter, but one look at Justin’s grim expression made him swallow the words back down.

Justin was only venting his anger. Of course, he knew that working with Miller Group was of utmost importance. If they really managed to secure that partnership, Riggs Group would earn enormous profits, but these useless people had failed to even get a call from Miller Group.

It seemed he would have to wait until Nadine was released from the holding cell and let her reach out to

the Millers instead.

“Mr. Riggs, are you… single now?” Greg suddenly asked.

“Why are you asking me that?” Justin replied impatiently.

He had never made his relationship status public, so even his executives didn’t know whether he had a

Greg gave an awkward smile and said, “I have an idea. I heard Samuel Miller has only one daughter, and she’s the future heir of Miller Group. Mr. Riggs, you’re young, capable, and good-looking. If you could be

with her…”

“Absurd!” Justin roared.

“I was only throwing out ideas,” said Greg through gritted teeth.

“Get out.”

Greg fled as if granted a pardon.

Justin remained seated, but his face was tense. Something was running in his mind.

After a while, he opened his browser and began searching for information on Samuel’s daughter.

However, there was almost nothing on her online-no photos, no age, not even a name.

All he could find was that Samuel Miller had only one daughter, and he cherished her like a treasure. Long ago, he had declared that his daughter would one day inherit the company.

Greg’s words echoed in Justin’s ears. “If you could be with her…”

But soon, he shook his head. How foolish of him to even entertain such a thought.
