Chapter 33

Although it was a small matter, Justin could certainly handle it. However, if Nadine ended up with a criminal record, it would reflect badly on the Riggs family.

If word got out, people would be quick to mock them.

“Elena, we’re all family here. Let’s talk this through. I’ll have Nadine apologize to you right away…”

Elena shot her a cold glance and said flatly, “Who said we’re family?”

“Elena…”

“Elena!” Justin’s voice rose in anger as he glared at her. “Do you really have to be like this?”

He took a deep breath and said, “My patience has its limits.”

Elena found it laughable. Just as she was about to speak, Jared interrupted him.

“Are you kidding me? Your family deliberately pushed Lena, causing her to get a mild concussion, and

now you’re saying your patience has limits? What exactly are you putting up with?

“If anyone didn’t know any better, they’d think you were the victim here! Let me tell you, we’re not going to

let this slide!”

Elena spoke wearily, cutting him off. “No need to waste more words on him. I’m tired. I just want to sleep.”

“Alright,” Jared quickly nodded, then turned to glare at Justin. “Didn’t you hear her? Get out-now!”

Justin fixed his gaze on Elena, but at that moment, Alexander moved a couple of steps to the side. His

tall figure completely blocked Justin’s line of sight.

“Get out.” His tone was firm, carrying a weight of authority that left no room for dispute.

Justin clenched his fists tightly.

He locked eyes with Alexander for a moment before speaking to Elena. “Elena, I’m furious now. Don’t

regret this!”

With that, he turned and stormed out of the hospital room.

Once he was gone and with no reason to stay, Josephine had no choice but to follow him.

As soon as they left, Elena felt a wave of relief. The atmosphere in the hospital room felt so much lighter.

“Mr. Golden, Mr. Pittman, I’m sorry for troubling you so late,” she said politely.

“Lena, why are you being so formal with me?” Jared said with a warm smile. “And Mr. Golden isn’t a

stranger. Don’t feel burdened.”

After all, he was her future husband.

“No need to overthink it,” Alexander said to Elena. “Get some rest. I’ll step outside to make a call.”

Once Alexander left the hospital room, Elena couldn’t help but ask Jared, “Mr. Pittman, how did you end up telling Mr. Golden about all this?”

“Wait, what? You…”

Jared quickly realized that Elena might not have known Alexander was the one chosen for her in the marriage alliance.

Since Samuel hadn’t told her anything, Jared decided not to say more.

He simply responded vaguely, “Well, your family and the Golden family have been quite close these past couple of years. I happened to hear that Mr. Golden was around, so I just mentioned it to him.”

“That’s fine, but don’t tell my dad or my grandma about this,” Elena insisted.

“I know, you’ve told me before,” Jared sighed.

“Lena, why hide something like this from them? Luckily, this time, it wasn’t a big deal. But what if something worse had happened? Would you have still kept it from them?”

At Jared’s words, Elena’s mind immediately flashed back to the car accident two years ago. She hadn’t

told Samuel and Jane about it.

She hadn’t wanted to worry them, and back then, she was afraid they might take their anger out on Justin.

It seemed so ridiculous now.

At that time, she had been seriously injured, yet she was still thinking about Justin. And there he was, busy covering up for the one who had caused her harm.
