Chapter 30

In the hospital corridor, Josephine was scolding Nadine nonstop.

“How could you be so impulsive? If something happened to her at home, Justin wouldn’t be able to cover

it up for you!”

Nadine frowned, clearly displeased. “I just can’t stand her arrogant attitude. You and Jus both tried to talk

sense into her, but she still wants to leave. What’s she pretending for? I don’t believe she can just walk away from Jus like that.”

“Well, that only means you’ve both gone too far. You’ve really pushed her to the edge,” Josephine

remarked, poking Nadine on the forehead.

However, deep down, Josephine didn’t think Elena would truly leave Justin.

After all, Elena loved him so much. She had sacrificed so much for him and the Riggs Group-there was no way she would just walk away from Justin.

It was probably just a show, a way to get attention.

She turned to look into the hospital room at Elena, who was lying on the bed, with Justin sitting by her side, keeping a watchful eye on her.

Once Justin calmed her down properly, everything would be fine.

Inside the hospital room, Justin gazed at Elena, who was half-lying in the bed. He reached out to hold her hand, but she pulled it away.

“Does it still hurt?” Justin asked, his face full of concern.

“Lena, it’s my fault. I should have caught you when you fell. Luckily, the doctor said it was just a mild concussion, but you should stay here for observation for a few days…”

Elena looked impatient. “You can leave now.”

Justin frowned. “That’s not happening. I’m staying here to take care of you.”

She scoffed coldly. “Justin, if you think this is some way to ‘make up’ for Nadine’s actions, I don’t need it.”

Justin’s face flushed with embarrassment at having his thoughts exposed.

“Nadi just acted out of impulse. She didn’t mean to hurt you,” Justin explained.

Elena ignored him, looking down at her phone screen instead.

She wondered why the person she had called still hadn’t arrived.

On her way to the hospital, she had already sent a message to one of Samuel’s subordinates, Jared

Pittman.

Jared had been working with Samuel for over 20 years. This year, due to some issues with the branch company in Slushire, he had been transferred there to manage it, and he was still in Slushire.

She had known him since she was little and had always called him “Mr. Pittman.”

Right now, she didn’t trust the Riggs family anymore. She needed someone she could rely on to come.

“Lena, did you hear what I said?” Justin kept talking beside her.

“I don’t want to hear it.”

“Don’t be upset. I’m just trying to apologize for Nadi, and I’m really worried about you,” Justin said softly,

his tone affectionate.

“Tomorrow, I’ll have her go back to the Riggs residence with my mom. She won’t bother us anymore.”

Elena was already feeling dizzy, and Justin’s voice only made her more irritable. Just as she was about to

call Jared again to check on his arrival, she heard Nadine’s overly dramatic voice outside the door.

Nadine exclaimed in feigned surprise, “Oh, Mr. Golden! What brings you here?”

Elena thought, “Mr. Golden? Could it be Alexander?”

Elena turned, and her heart skipped a beat as she locked eyes with a pair of dark, penetrating eyes.

It was really him.

Alexander stood at the door, dressed in a tailored deep gray suit. His shirt collar was slightly open, revealing his pale skin, and the black watch on his wrist gleamed under the lights.

He looked like a tall, aloof figure enveloped in the winter morning mist, elegant yet distant.

When Justin saw Alexander standing in the doorway, his expression darkened instantly.

Nadine’s eyes gleamed with mischief, her voice dripping with exaggerated surprise. “Mr. Golden, what brings you here all of a sudden?”

She then turned to Elena, adding, “Oh… Ms. Miller, did you ask Mr. Golden to come see you? Looks like you two are pretty familiar with each other…”

“Enough! Don’t say anything else,” Josephine said, pulling Nadine aside, her brow furrowing tightly.

Although she wasn’t sure what was going on, she recognized Alexander as part of the prominent Golden family in Hupolis.

She couldn’t let Nadine make a scene and risk offending someone important.

Ignoring everyone else, Alexander’s gaze fixed on Elena’s pale face. With purposeful, confident strides, he walked over to her bedside.

He said, “I heard from Mr. Pittman that you were in an accident, so I came to check on you.”

The “Mr. Pittman” he referred to was Jared, whom Elena had contacted earlier.
