Josie stormed into the faculty building. She came to see Delilah.

Josie fumed inwardly, ‘Kyle is so annoying. He always meddles in things that have nothing to do with him.
‘In my previous life, he ruined me with his lies, and now he’s trying to drag me through the mud every chance he gets.
‘Looks like I’ve been too nice. They really think I’m still the same pushover as before.
‘This can’t go on. I need to come up with a way to make sure they don’t dare mess with me again!‘
Just as Josie was still racking her brain for a solution, the office door opened from inside.
“Why’d you come in without knocking?” Delilah asked, totally at ease, “What are you waiting for?”
Josie’s cheeks turned pink. “Nothing, really. I was just trying to calm myself down first. I didn’t want to bring my bad mood in and bother you.”
“So, have you calmed down now? If not, I can just close the door and let you try again,” Delilah said, making a show of closing the door.
Afraid Delilah really would shut her out, Josie quickly squeezed through the door before she could close it.
“Professor Wilcourt, I have something really important I need your help with,” Josie said.
Originally, she’d planned to wait until after the competition results were out to bring it up, but she was afraid she’d miss her chance if she waited.
Judging from the reaction during the first round, it looked like a lot of professors already had their eyes on Joseph.
“So, tell me. What’s so serious that you’d come to me looking like this?” Delilah asked, settling back behind her desk and glancing up at Josie.
Josie told Delilah about her idea to get Joseph an internship at the central research institute.
Josie said, “You’ve seen Joseph’s work, right? He’s got real potential. I promise, if you help him, it’ll totally be worth it for you. He’ll blow you away someday.”
“He’s not even my student. How could he possibly surprise me?” Delilah replied with a playful look.

She added, “Besides, why are you so eager to help him? What’s in it for you?”
Josie didn’t rush. She calmly explained to Delilah, “If Joseph can get an internship at the Central Research Institution, we could bring him over to the hospital.
“As a visiting talentm we can have him join our research team.
“You said before that our team researching the combined treatment of cytology and acupuncture is short–handed.

“Professor Jeremy Wilcourt and Professor Sommers are only providing technical support, and they might not have much time to actually be at the hospital.
“With Joseph on board, he’d be a huge asset to our research!”
Delilah frowned slightly. “If I remember right, his major is clinical medicine. He’s not bad at it, right?”
“Not just not bad. He’s been the top student in his major every single year!” Josie said, sticking out her tongue playfully.
Delilah grinned. “Come on, spill it. Why are you so eager to help him?”
“Who says I’m helping him? I’m just thinking about the future of our team!” Josie said, winking at Delilah.
Delilah gave her a playful tap on the head. “Enough with the jokes. Be straight with me!”
Josie explained, “Honestly, his girlfriend is my roommate. Joseph’s family is from a mid- sized city down south.
“If he can’t stay in Aloville for his internship, they’ll either have to have a long–distance relationship or just break up.
“I really don’t want to see my roommate upset, and she’s about to take her grad school entrance exams. I’m worried this whole thing might throw her off.”
Delilah looked a bit surprised. “You really are kind, worrying about your roommate like this.
“Aren’t you worried Joseph might take advantage of your kindness?”
Josie said, “No way. My roommate is pretty and kind–hearted. Her boyfriend can’t be that bad either. That’s the first reason.
“Second, I really do think he’s got talent and could actually help you out.
“If he doesn’t cut it, you can just kick him out after the internship
-no big deal.”

Chapter 115
“You really dare to say anything, huh?” Delilah teased, tapping Josie on the forehead.
“I’ll put in a word with Jeremy. If Joseph really proves himself, he can stay at the institute,”
Delilah said.
