PEAK Time 98

Chapter 98

Diana approached Oliver and said, “Brother, Cathy’s cornea donation is not just about you. It concerns our entire Harrison family! She made such a great contribution, and we shouldn’t mistreat her.”

“I heard about a world class ophthalmology team that has successfully treated many patients sentenced to blindness by other doctors. Let’s have Miss Willis thoroughly examined. Even if it costs half of the Harrison family’s fortune, we must cure her if there’s a problem.”

Upon hearing this, Cathy and Linda were stunned, their minds buzzing.

How could Diana be so kind-hearted? There must be some hidden motive behind this.

“Diana, this is between me and your brother. We will handle it ourselves, okay?” Cathy supported her goddess-like image, concealed her worries, and spoke softly.

Her elegant and noble appearance contrasted with Diana’s unruly and unreasonable behavior.

Diana was infuriated but couldn’t say much as she knew her brother’s temper. She could only leave in anger.

With Diana successfully driven away, Cathy’s tense heart finally relaxed, and she felt alive again. Linda also let out a sigh of relief.

Oliver looked at Linda and said, “Linda, prepare two cups of coffee.”

“Okay,” Linda hurriedly left.

“Oliver,” Cathy ran over and hooked her arm around his, a smile blooming on her face, “Diana is just a child. Don’t take her seriously.”

Oliver didn’t say a word, pushed the door, and led her into the office.

With a click, he closed the door.

Seeing him close the door, Cathy’s face broke into a coy smile. She thought he wanted to be alone with her.

Since returning to Celesterra, although Oliver had indicated that they were starting over, apart from holding hands, there had been no other intimate actions. She had longed to take their relationship a step further.

She leaned in to offer her lips.

Oliver moved away, placing his long fingers on the desk. “Cathy, I’ll take you to get your eyes checked.”

“What?” Cathy was still immersed in the joy of being alone with Oliver when she was suddenly startled by his words and froze in place. The nerves she had just relaxed tightened again!

While she was there, Oliver made a call right in front of her, saying, “Arrange the best opthalmologists!”

“No!” Cathy was so scared that she lost her composure. She jumped over and snatched his phone, yelling, “I’m sorry, we don’t need an eye doctor here. My apologies, wrong number!”

She spoke extremely quickly.

Only after saying that did she realize that something was off.

Her face lifted, and she looked at Oliver,

In the depths of his eyes was a profound and dark gaze, fixed on the phone she held.

As if time had slowed down, Cathy’s hand slowly dropped as she gazed at the phone screen.

There, it was blank.

Oliver hadn’t dialed any number just now!

Thunk!

Something hit her head hard, and Cathy was stunned.

Her mind went completely blank!

Her eyes widened, vacant, filled with fear, anxiety, guilt, and embarrassment.

She bit her lip silently and hurriedly stepped forward to grab his sleeve. “Oliver, let me explain!”

Oliver remained silent. He didn’t scold, shout, ask, or say anything. The more he remained like this, the more frightened Cathy became.

Her heart felt as if it were weighed down by a million stones, and the only straw she was clinging to snapped.

She was completely defeated and tightly covered her face. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry!”

Oliver watched her calmly.

His gaze held no surprise. Because during the previous test, he had already known the answer. However, disappointment weighed heavily on him.

“Why did you become like this?” He asked in a cold tone.

Cathy’s body trembled, unable to face him. But suddenly, she thought that even if Oliver had suspicions earlier, he still chased Diana and Linda away because h didn’t want her to embarrass herself. He still had feelings for her.

With renewed courage, she pitifully held onto him, tears streaming down her face like pear blossoms in the rain. “Actually… actually, I ended up doing this because I care too much about you, Oliver. It’s all because I love you.”

Oliver lowered his gaze, watching her hold onto his sleeve.

He lifted a finger, one by one, and broke her grip on his fingers.

Cathy’s hands felt empty, and she staggered, crying even harder. “Oliver, is it wrong for me to cherish you now? I know this is not right, but my feelings for you are genuine. Don’t you also wish for me to be devoted to you? I’m trying my best, Oliver!”

“Cathy, what you call your best is nauseating!” Oliver finally spoke, his words as cold and hard as ice.

Cathy couldn’t believe what she was hearing as she looked at him, his tense expression showing not much anger, but rather, coldness.

This coldness was more scorching than fire, burning her heart and causing it to ache and tremble.

It made her head buzz with confusion.

Desperate to get close to him, she tried to throw herself into his arms, but Oliver extended his arm to hold her back.

They were now at arm’s length, and Oliver refused to let her approach any further.

“Is what you did fair to the girl who donated her cornea to me without asking for anything in return?” He asked, his voice deep and solemn.

Cathy felt ashamed. She was also a proud young lady and didn’t want to do such things.

She didn’t dare to voice these thoughts, afraid they would overwhelm her.

Oliver was a person who valued emotions. If he found the girl who donated her cornea without asking for anything in return, what would become of her?

She nervously grasped Oliver’s wrist, seeking an escape route in her desperation. She called out again, “Didn’t you say that the girl donated her cornea willingly? She refused to accept any recognition for it, so I just borrowed her act to strengthen our relationship. Is there anything wrong with that?”

But after speaking, Cathy suddenly realized what she had just said.

Although it was what she genuinely felt deep inside, she couldn’t say such things.

But the words had already been said… and couldn’t be taken back.

As expected, Oliver’s disgust deepened. He withdrew his hand and refused to look at her again. “I’ll have Linda take you back.”

Although he didn’t say more, Cathy realized that their relationship might be over.

ཨོྃ་ཕ་རྡོ་ཏྲྰཾ་ཕྱྀ།

She couldn’t accept it and looked at him with disbelief. “What about us? When will we get engaged?”

Oliver stood with his hands by his side, just looking at her.

Chapter 98

No response was given.

Cathy felt even more ashamed, realizing that she couldn’t even accept herself, let alone expect Oliver to accept her.

Where would the engagement come from?

“Linda, take Miss Willis back,” Oliver said, turning and making a phone call.

After the call, he started walking out, not saying any unnecessary words.

Cathy looked at his cold back, and her whole world collapsed.

It was over!

It was truly over!

But this was not the result she wanted!

Just as Linda pushed the door open to come in and Oliver was about to leave, Cathy rushed over and slammed the door shut!

She pressed herself against the door and forced herself to meet Oliver’s gaze. “Oliver, you have no right to push me away!”
