Chapter 83

Someone shook Robin, who was using his clothes to cover his face while sleeping. That person exclaimed, “Quick, look! The Ghost Technique has reappeared!”

Robin opened his eyes lazily and said, “What are you joking about?”

The person talking was so excited they could hardly get the words out. “Look… look!”

I knew the Ghost Technique was so fast that it was just a blur, almost impossible to follow with the naked eye. But Robin still saw that Cathy’s car was being left way behind by another car. He quickly jumped out of his car to check the surveillance footage, but by then, my car had already returned to the starting point.

The race was over.

Fredrica and I got out of the car.

Robin rubbed his eyes.

At first, he must have thought it was Fredrica driving. But after checking, he saw that it was me!

It was important to know that Cathy’s driving skills were no joke. Forget about women, most of the men here weren’t a match for her. And an unknown female Iriver actually won against her?

The person who was talking to Robin was so over the moon that he ran over and knelt in front of me. “Master, Master!”

This guy’s surname was Lisbon, and people called him Michael. He was crazy about car racing and such an enthusiastic person. Seeing me pull off the Ghost Technique, how could he not idolize me?

n his eyes, I was like a superstar, and he’d probably do anything to protect me, even sacrifice his own life. My skills were just that impressive to him.

The Ghost Technique? Isn’t that a technique only used by Drift King?” A lot of people heard Michael’s shout and started chatting.

Could it be that she is Drift King?”

Drift King is a woman?”

always wore a full-face helmet during races and never showed my face. My racing suit was also pretty gender-neutral, so people just thought I looked a bit

hin and didn’t even consider I might be a woman.

Oliver, who was standing not too far away, hadn’t missed this race either. Even though he thought I was being stupid and overconfident, he couldn’t help but

vorry a bit.

Car racing could be deadly, and while he looked down on me, he didn’t want me to die either.

When he saw that I not only didn’t crash or encounter any danger but also defeated Casey, Oliver’s expression changed.

Oliver’s gloomy expression got even darker, and his pupils seemed to shine with a strange, intense light.

But he must have realized that not many women could outrace Cathy. Not only did I win, but I won by a mile… It was a total display of professional skills! To hink that his supposedly useless ex-wife was actually a pro racer? What was going on?

Hey, don’t you think you’ve misjudged her?” Robin said.

He came over, teasing Oliver. “Dear cousin, do you have eyes but can’t see?”

Oliver’s face stayed stiff, and he didn’t answer Robin.

The four years of him being cold to me were at first just to let off steam, but now, in other people’s eyes, it looked like he’d treated a diamond like a piece of glass!

With my win, it was more than just a blow to his pride! If I had these skills, why did I stick around him? The more I showed what I could do, the more confused

he must have been.

On the other side, Cathy came back looking really sour. She hadn’t finished the whole race. When I showed off my secret technique, she knew she didn’t stand a chance. As the race went on, the gap between us just kept growing. Finishing the race would only mean more humiliation.

She walked up to me and said. “Miss Collins, you’ve won this round. Let’s have another match.”

Chapter 83

At that moment, she was driving and didn’t notice how I’d overtaken her.

“Tine, let’s compete again if you want. Do you have nothing else to do?” Fredrica walked over and butted in, not being polite at all.

“You deliberately hid your true abilities, and Cathy here slowed down the car to save you from too much embarrassment. This race didn’t really show your level, so it needs to be redone,” Cathy’s co-driver, Winona, Jumped in.

I felt so angry and snapped back. Fredrica just chuckled. “You agreed to the bet, so don’t make excuses.”

The more I said, the more Winona thought I was feeling guilty and had just gotten lucky. She couldn’t help but sneer, “It seems like you’re feeling guilty.”

Fredrica ignored her. We knew our skills were the real deal, and our confidence wasn’t just hot air.

Fredrica’s nonchalance made Cathy really uncomfortable, and I saw her pinch her fingertips in frustration.

Just when Winona was about to say something, Cathy reached out and stopped her. “Enough, indeed, we agreed to the bet.”

“This…” Winona looked at her, clearly not happy and on the verge of crying.

Cathy walked up to me. “Miss Collins, you’ve won.”

After saying that, she walked towards Oliver.

‘Hold on.” I, who had been quiet and looking down, suddenly called her back.

With a flutter of my beautiful eyelashes, I said, “Cathy, you know what, let’s have one more match.”

‘What? Rita, what are you doing? Why are you wasting time with her?” Fredrica was confused.

I smiled a little and whispered in a voice only the two of us could hear, “My dear loving friend, I have my reasons.”

‘What reasons could you possibly have?”

I quickly scribbled a few words on Fredrica’s palm to let her know what I was thinking.

since we’d played these kinds of games since we were kids, Fredrica caught on right away. The confusion on her face turned into understanding. “Yes, we should definitely compete!”

Cathy was pretending to give up, but I knew she was just trying to trick people. In the end, she was planning to wait for us. So, even if we won, everyone would hink Cathy lost because she underestimated us, not because she was truly beaten. Even her underestimation was because she didn’t know how good I really was, and she was trying to save a little face.

n the end, all the criticism would be aimed at me. Having the skills but hiding them, wasn’t I just setting Cathy up to look bad?

fa, trying to play the good guy while making me the bad one? Not gonna happen!

We went back to our cars.

The referee raised the gun again.

Someone started the stopwatch.

Even though I’d won just now, Cathy had actually been in the lead at the start.

Plus, the Ghost Technique was so fast that not many people could see it clearly. So, nobody was really sure who would win this time.

They didn’t know who’d come out on top and who’d lose.

But one thing was for sure, this was going to be an insanely intense race.

People abandoned their cars and gathered around, all eyes on us.

Everyone’s faces were tight with tension, even more nervous than when they were racing themselves.

“Who do you think will win?” someone asked.

“Who else? Of course, it will be Fredrica’s team,” Michael spoke up first. After seeing me do that Ghost Technique, he was convinced this was a no-brainer.

Don’t be so sure. Cathy is not to be underestimated. She has participated in many big and small races in recent years and shouldn’t be underestimated. Besides, her defeat just now was due to underestimating her opponent.”

Beside him, Kevin scoffed and looked my way, showing his contempt.

Michael snorted. “You can’t even understand the tricks, are you really a racer?”

Kevin’s face turned green with anger at Michael’s rude comment, and he stomped off.

At the starting line, I put on my helmet.

Fredrica grinned. “Shall we make it a bit more special?”

My eyes were calm. “I believe someone wants it even more special.” I nodded towards the car parked next to us.

From that car, Winona got out. She nodded at Robin. “Let’s make it more exciting!”
