Tears in Jaxon’s eyes instantly burst like a dam. 

“Harley Sinclair!” 

Jaxon called my name with heartbreaking anguish. 

Our eyes met, and I’d never seen such defeated, wretched expression on Jaxon’s face. 

He gazed at me with humble desperation: 

“Ivy’s baby is long gone–I only want our child.” 

“I know you’re punishing me, I hurt you too deeply… If you think it’s unfair, you can mess around with him casually… as long as you’re willing to come back to me in the end, I can wait.” 

When the man said this, everyone thought it was absurd. 

But he kept getting more horrifying. 

“Harley, or I’ll make Ivy disappear from this world forever, okay? I promise you, from now on I absolutely won’t hire any female employees, I’ll definitely…” 

I interrupted Jaxon expressionlessly: “You don’t need to tell me these things. I really don’t care.” 

Jaxon was stunned for a moment, slowly shook his head, still deceiving himself: 

“Harley, you do have feelings for me. You’re just temporarily disappointed in my past behavior…” 

Dash didn’t give him a chance to ramble on, supporting the back of my head, eyes full of love: “Fiancée, may I kiss you? You’re too radiant today.” 

Under Dash’s tender care, my cervical spine condition had also healed. Now I could finally lift my head to welcome his kisses. 

One month later, late at night. 

I accidentally answered a call from Jaxon using an unknown number. 

The man seemed to cry without crying, asking me straight out whether there had once been a child between us. 

His tone clearly showed he was heavily drunk. 

At the same time, I could hear slight rustling sounds of pages turning through the receiver. 

I guessed he must have used his connections to get my medical reports. 

I’d never thought of using that child to keep him before, so when he didn’t believe me and said it was jealous nonsense I’d made up, I didn’t argue. 

But now, after cutting all ties, I suddenly wanted to tell him. 

“Yeah, wasn’t it because of the liquor you personally forced me to drink that I miscarried?” 

“I told you, but you didn’t believe me. Did you forget?” 

Long silence later, the phone crashed to the ground and hung up.

Chapter 10 

Not until year’s end, when Jaxon’s lawyer called me about his will, did I learn the truth. 

Jaxon had drunk himself to stomach bleeding and was rushed to ICU for emergency treatment. 

After regaining consciousness, the man left a will and then pulled out his oxygen tube. 

In the Victoria & Albert’s. 

Seeing me staring down at my phone with an unusual expression, Dash casually asked about it. 

I put down my phone and waved it off, not taking it seriously. 

Seeing the clay sculpture gift he’d made by hand on the table, I smiled and teased: 

“Next year we’ll have to make three little figures.” 

Dash held my slightly cold palm, bringing it to his lips for a light kiss: “Nothing I’d want more.” 

Walking out of the restaurant, this year’s first snow was just falling. 

Dash, afraid I’d catch cold, draped his coat over me. 

The man’s nose was red, and he said “I love you” with slight shyness, then as if afraid I’d find him cheesy, immediately explained that 

a friend once told him that confessing on the first snow day meant loving each other until old age. 

I suddenly remembered that winter when I was 18–the night I accepted Jaxon’s confession, walking back I discovered Dash’s missed 

call. 

Holding the bouquet of roses, I looked up and ran right into him. I thought it was coincidence. 

But I didn’t know he’d waited in the first snow all night and missed his chance to confess. 

Fortunately, ten years later, we didn’t miss each other again. 

This time holding hands, roses bloomed all the way to the end.
