One Betrayal 6

Chapter 6

It all finally made sense-why Xavier kept saying ‘low sperm motility, IVF has better success rates’ when we were trying to conceive. All those nights I spent nauseated from fertility drugs, my belly covered in needle marks from injections-it was all so he could have a child with another Omega!

The day the embryo implanted, he’d kissed my belly, saying, “I’m going to make you the most blissful mother there is.” But

those words were never meant for me.

Hanna’s voice continued, dripping with disdain. “Look at Rosalie now-her body’s ruined, her face is haggard. I’d never let myself become a frumpy housewife like her.”

I couldn’t listen anymore. I turned to leave, but a massive wave hit the yacht, sending Hanna, who’d been standing at the edge, flying into the sea.

Xavier barely hesitated-he grabbed the life ring and dove right in, swimming desperately toward Hanna. The man couldn’t even swim, used to cling to me in the pool like his life depended on it. But for Hanna? He’d risk drowning without a second thought.

I stood frozen, then turned to Soren. “Take me to the pack hospital. I’m terminating the pregnancy.”

As the anesthesia took effect, my last thought was: Xavier, you’re dead to me.

When I woke up, Soren was by my bedside, his eyes red. I instinctively touched my belly-it was flat. A strange sense of

relief washed over me. “Where’s Xavier?” I asked hoarsely.

Soren handed me his phone. The first video showed Hanna on the beach, crying as she gave Xavier CPR. He coughed

awake, his first words. “Are you okay?” Then Hanna threw herself into his arms, sobbing, “Xavier, I can’t lie to myself

anymore. I love you!”

The pack erupted in cheers around us as they kissed, soaking wet and wrapped in each other’s arms-like some fairy tale where the mermaid saves her prince. And me? I was just the pathetic foam left behind when the waves recede.

The second video showed Xavier carrying Hanna into a hotel. At the same time, my phone buzzed with a message from an unknown number: [Rosalie, my phone got wet. Borrowing a friend’s to text you. I’m staying with Hanna tonight. Don’t

wait up. Goodnight to you and the pup.]

I stared at the message, then sat up, turning to Soren. “Pack the embryo in a cooler and call the media. Get the pack’s

biggest gossip.”

Soren frowned. “What are you planning?”

I smirked. “A gift for thern.”

At the hotel, I used Soren’s method to get a keycard and led a drumline to their room. I pushed the door open.

Inside, Xavier and Hanna were tangled on the bed, half-dressed. They turned at the noise-Xavier’s face paled when he saw me and the reporters behind me.
