The Spencer residence had multiple housekeepers, a driver, and two bodyguards standing guard outside. In other words, it was almost impossible for Nicole to escape this place.
There was no point in resisting, so Nicole simply focused on thinking about the quickest way she could leave this place. She soon descended the stairs to the living room to get herself some water.
Because Hayden had abducted her, her medication had been left at the hospital. Without the medication to stabilize her illness, her condition would only worsen. Nicole needed a way to get her medication as soon as possible.
Nicole poured herself some hot water while deep in thought. Suddenly, she heard a muffled voice coming from upstairs, causing her to look up.
The door to the study on the second floor was left ajar. It was dark inside, so the person inside must have turned on the desk lamp.
If Nicole hadn’t taken a closer look, she wouldn’t have noticed that someone was inside. Nicole paused her movements when she heard Hayden’s voice.
“I’ve brought Nicole home. She didn’t make a scene, but she’s emotionally unstable. I’m worried something will happen to her, so we need to speed things up.”
Nicole was stunned. Her fingers turned cold.
Then, Hayden continued, “That’s right. Find a time when you’re free one of these days so we can settle everything. Once Nicole’s mood stabilizes, I’ll tell her everything.
“You’re joining me when I tell her the truth about everything that happened these past few years. I’ve had enough. I don’t want to hide it from her anymore.”
Hayden sounded extremely fed up and frustrated. It was as if maintaining this farce of a marriage had become unbearable for him.
Although she was holding a glass of hot water, she couldn’t stop her hand from trembling.
In the past few days, Hayden had gone all out to win her back. He even went as far as abducting her to bring her back home. It was as if he had lost his mind while trying to keep her by his side.
Nicole thought the reason for this was that he wanted their peaceful days to last longer. She didn’t expect it to be because he wanted to tell her everything and end it all.
Was he tying up loose ends to ensure that the media wouldn’t go wild with speculations when he finally revealed that it was actually Gloria and him who had been married for the past seven years?
Nicole laughed bitterly as cold despair filled her eyes.
She placed the glass down and went back upstairs. She then picked up her phone.

It was daytime abroad. She probably wouldn’t disturb Shawn if she called him now. Thus, Nicole dialed
his number.
When Shawn accepted her call, Nicole went straight to the point. “Shawn, can you help me with
something?”
Shawn sighed. “Nicole, my silly sister, what’s troubling you? Tell me everything. Eugene told me you were
suffering over there when he returned. What happened?”
His heart clenched with worry. “I can help you. Say the word, and I’ll help you get back at Hayden! I’ll use any means necessary to make him repent and kneel before you. He’ll never have the guts to hurt you again!”
Nicole said calmly, “It’s fine, Shawn. I can handle everything on my end. Don’t worry.”
Time was slowly progressing. She had two months to go. After running a few more tests, Jeremiah
confirmed she now had a little over a month left.
Nicole’s life was slowly slipping through her fingers.
She could’ve left long ago, but one thing after another held her back, and her health deteriorated to the
point she could no longer leave. If this went on, she might actually die in the Spencer residence.
