“Mr. Spencer, are you done now?” Nicole heard Jeremiah’s voice outside the door.
She massaged the space between her eyebrows. She already told Jeremiah not to show up to prevent Hayden from starting a fight with him, but Jeremiah showed up anyway.
“I’m talking to my wife. It’s none of your business. Get lost.” Hayden’s tone was impatient and cold.
Jeremiah took a deep breath. He sounded angry as he said, “Your wife is unwell and needs rest. Making a racket here does not help in any way. Besides, all you ever do is apologize, but has it ever solved anything
for you?”
Hayden glared at Jeremiah with narrowed eyes. Unfazed, Jeremiah glared right back.
It was silent outside for a long time–long enough that Nicole thought they had left. But she suddenly
heard hurried footsteps.
“What are you doing?” Jeremiah sounded furious.
“Since you won’t mind your own business, I ordered my bodyguards to escort you out. I won’t let you get
away so easily next time.” Hayden coldly gave him a warning.
Jeremiah struggled and threatened Hayden, but he was dragged away anyway. The more Nicole heard,
the worse she felt. She just wanted to hole herself up and not see anyone ever again.
Last night, she thought that Hayden had truly gotten into an accident and rushed to see him one last time.
She was so stupid.
Hayden was too stubborn to die. In fact, he was stubborn in all aspects, especially when it came to her.
“Nicky.” Hayden leaned against the door outside. His tone was determined as he said, “No matter what
you think, I’ll wait here until you’re willing to come out and see me.
“Matt misses you a lot, too. After finding out that you left, he wouldn’t stop asking me where you were and
if you would come home.
“Aunt Olivia feels the same. She just has a sharp tongue. Now that you’re gone, she’s very worried about
you,”
Nicole closed her eyes. The more she heard, the more she felt like throwing up.
He said Matthew missed her? There was no way her ungrateful son, who would rush out like an attack dog and betray his own mother at Gloria’s command, would be worried about her.
Olivia was the same. Out of everyone in that house, Olivia was the one who wanted Nicole gone the most.
Everyone around her couldn’t wait to backstab her. It was one thing for Hayden to be oblivious to it all, but the way he interpreted everything as kindness disgusted her the most.

Nicole couldn’t take it anymore. She grabbed the glass of water on her nightstand and threw it at the door.
“Get lost! Hayden, if you say one more word, I’ll leave this place and make sure you’ll never find me again!”
Nicole’s tone was cold and filled with hatred.
It was finally quiet outside. It felt like the whole world went silent. Nicole finally had the chance to catch
her breath.
Suddenly, she heard a gentle voice from the hallway. “Forget it, Hayden.”
It was Gloria. The look in Nicole’s eyes turned frigid.
“We can clear up last night’s misunderstanding next time. She’s too worked up right now. You being here won’t solve anything, so you should leave for now.
Hayden replied, “This has nothing to do with you. Leave.”
Gloria said, “Matt has a fever. Can’t you visit him? He’s very upset right now. He’s been looking everywhere for the time capsule Nicole took with her.”
