Chapter 92
Hayden immediately got out of bed. He didn’t understand why Nicole had reacted that way. Upon seeing his reflection in the window, he was stunned.
There was a lipstick stain on his collar. Hayden pursed his lips as he suddenly recalled what happened.
To make Nicole show herself, he had staged a car accident without telling the others. When he was in the hospital, Olivia and Matthew were so worried that they cried as if it were the end of the world.
Gloria was the only one who saw through it and leaned closer to whisper into his ear, “I know you staged the accident so Nicole would show up. Don’t worry. I’ll play along.”
Hayden didn’t know how Gloria saw through his scheme. He was so shocked that he didn’t realize Gloria had accidentally left a lipstick stain on his clothes when she whispered into his ear.
Now, everything had turned into a huge misunderstanding. Hayden sprinted after Nicole without
hesitation.
However, Nicole had already hailed a cab. A gust of wind swept by, and it seemed as though she was going to disappear with it. Then, she got into the car resolutely and left without sparing him a single
glance.
Hayden stopped and clenched his fists. His face had never looked so ashen. He pulled out his phone and
made a call.
“Follow her and find out where she went.” Hayden watched the car fade into the distance thoughtfully.
He swore to solve everything between him and Nicole so that everything would return to the way they
once were.
It was almost dawn by the time Nicole returned to the hospital. Concerned about her health, Jeremiah
remained at the hospital.
When she suddenly appeared with a pale face, Jeremiah was shocked, “Nicole, are you alright? Why did
you come back looking like this?”
Nicole came back looking the same as when she left, but Jeremiah still felt like there was something different about her complexion.
“He wasn’t dying. It was all a lie,” Nicole said and walked into her hospital suite.
It took Jeremiah a few seconds to understand what she meant. Then, he clenched his fists in anger and
barked, “How shameless!”
When he turned around, he caught a glimpse of two disappearing figures at the end of the hallway. It gave him a bad feeling, so he quickly chased after them. However, they were already gone by the time he

Jeremiah returned to the hospital suite and saw Nicole sitting on the bed. She had wrapped herself up in her blanket. It was as if she were about to fall apart where she sat.
He carefully wrung his hands together and said, “I spotted two people following you just now. I think Hayden sent them. If he finds out you’re here, he may come for you.”
Nicole blinked and nonchalantly said, “I don’t care anymore. As long as he doesn’t enter this room, he can
do whatever he wants outside.”
Jeremiah sighed and left soon after.
The next morning, after he was sure about Nicole’s whereabouts, Hayden rushed to the hospital. He stood outside the suite and repeatedly banged on the door.
“Nicky, you misunderstood what happened last night. I didn’t realize Gloria’s lipstick had stained my
clothes when she talked to me.
“Can’t you stop being angry at me? Let me enter and explain myself.”
But no matter what he said, he received no response from the other side of the door. Hayden clenched
his fists, his heart racing with anxiety. He had never felt so lost and nervous in his life.
Even though Nicole was only one door away, he felt as though she were a butterfly he couldn’t quite catch. If he didn’t do anything, she might just flutter away.
