Nicole arched a brow and said, “Hayden’s the one who dealt with the hospital check–in. If you don’t want me here, bring it up with him. Don’t bark up the wrong tree.” 

“You!” Olivia clenched her teeth, and her expression darkened. 

Nonetheless, she swallowed her anger as she remembered Gloria’s instructions and snorted. 

“Do you think I wanted to come? If I didn’t have something to tell you, I wouldn’t have ever stepped foot in your ward for the rest of my life!” 

Then, she glared at Jeremiah and barked, “Get out.” 

“Stay.” Nicole cut in immediately and turned to glare at her. “Say what you want to say. If not, get out. My friend doesn’t take orders from you.” 

Jeremiah’s lips curved into a faint smile as he moved to stay beside Nicole. 

Olivia took a deep breath, and her features morphed into a scowl. She let out a bitter chuckle and said, ” 

Fine. Since you don’t care about embarrassing yourself, I’ll say it out loud in front of others.” 

She stepped closer toward Nicole, her eyes boring into her. “Tomorrow is Gloria’s birthday, so you’d better behave. Don’t you dare interrupt her time alone with Hayden, or you’ll regret it!” 

Nicole curled her fingers into a fist and was amused by Olivia’s attempt to intimidate her. 

“Gloria hasn’t said a word to me, yet here you are rushing to tell me this. Are you her lapdog or something?

Olivia’s expression twisted in wrath. “How dare you insult me? Are you out of your mind? Or do you think I 

wouldn’t teach you a lesson just because you’re sick?” 

“Who else would I be insulting if not you? After all, there are only two humans and a dog here.” Nicole 

smirked as she casually tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear. 

Jeremiah couldn’t hold back his laughter and snorted. 

At this moment, Olivia felt utterly humiliated. She lunged forward and raised her hand to slap Nicole. 

Nicole narrowed her eyes and braced herself for the hit without flinching. 

“Go ahead and hit me. I’ll call Hayden over the second you do and have him handle this. And when that happens, you can forget about him celebrating Gloria’s birthday!” 

Olivia’s hand froze mid–air. Her expression darkened as she scowled at Nicole, but she could do nothing to vent her anger. 

It was then that she realized Nicole had changed.

Nicole did indeed look frail and weaker than before, but the moment Olivia met her icy gaze, she felt a 

shiver run through her. 

Olivia registered Nicole’s words and calm demeanor, which weren’t things to be overlooked. 

“Didn’t you hear her?” Jeremiah stepped forward, blocking Olivia with a stern expression. 

“Get lost!” Nicole growled coldly. 

Olivia gritted her teeth so hard that it seemed they might crack. Feeling humiliated and defeated, she finally snorted and retracted her hand. 

“Just you wait. You won’t be Hayden’s wife much longer! When that happens, I’ll destroy you as I please!” With that, she stormed out of the room, her face lit with malicious anticipation, as if she were already picturing the future. 

The room fell silent again. 

Jeremiah turned around with worry etched across his face. Seeing Nicole’s icy expression sent a chill 

down his spine. “How did you hold on for seven years in the Spencer residence?” 

She smiled faintly and answered, “I held on because of my love for Hayden.” 

“You really love him, huh?” He let out a long sigh. 

“I did. But not anymore.” Nicole remained perfectly calm as she spoke. 

Once, she would’ve given Hayden her heart, soul, and life. But now that she had moved on, she would be 

colder and more ruthless than he could ever imagine. 

She picked up her phone and called the boutique she frequented. For her final appearance, Nicole 

intended to look stunning at the Spencer family’s residence. 

She wanted to see who exactly would come out hurt in the end.
