Hayden’s expression turned cold, and he walked toward the door.
“Caleb, why are you making a racket? Nicky’s still asleep.”
“She has the audacity to fall asleep? She sent the Gibson family into absolute chaos! Who gave her the right to sleep?” Caleb seethed.
He had lost his mind and was now acting like a lunatic. He was about to dash into Nicole’s suite to wreak
havoc.
Hayden’s heart tightened. He quickly shoved Caleb back and shut the door with the back of his hand.
“Shut up! If you say another word about Nicky, you can’t blame me for punching you in the face!” Hayden said angrily.
“Y–You’re siding with her?” Caleb’s eyes were filled with shock. “Did you know that she made a mess of my
family? My dad almost had a heart attack, damn it!”
In the suite, Nicole slowly opened her eyes.
Hayden froze for a moment. He suddenly remembered that Nicole once told him that she would personally deal with Caleb herself.
He remained calm and asked, “What happened?”
Caleb took a deep breath and gritted his teeth. “Didn’t I tell you that the woman I fooled around with a few
years ago got pregnant in secret and gave birth to my child? She’s now using that kid to marry into my family.
“I’m supposed to form a marriage alliance with a powerful family! There are tons of rich, beautiful women waiting for me to choose from. My dad would never let some side chick become my wife, so I just kept stringing her along and hid her from my family.”
Hayden replied coldly, “What does this have to do with Nicky?”
Caleb seethed with anger. “Nicole went to that woman and told her I was going on blind dates. That woman brought my child to the Gibson residence and made a scene.
“Not only does my family now know I have a mistress, but our entire social circle knows that I’ve been hiding a mistress and an illegitimate son! So tell me, is this not Nicole ruining my chance at marriage?”
He explained his situation angrily, with the belief that Hayden would side with him. But all Hayden did was let out a cold laugh.
“You were the one who caused her to pass out at that bar, yes? She’s only taking revenge–and you deserve every second of it!” Hayden sneered.
Caleb froze at the revelation. “S–So you knew!”

“Not only did I know about it, but I also promised Nicky that no matter what she did to you, I wouldn’t interfere,” Hayden replied.
He looked down at Caleb condescendingly. In a low voice, he said, “I told you not to meddle in our business. No one in this world can ever hurt Nicky–not even you. This time, don’t blame me for not having your back despite our friendship.”
Caleb tried to speak, but he couldn’t muster a word.
At first, he thought Hayden would side with him and demand an explanation from Nicole. He hadn’t expected Nicole to play her cards so skillfully and to already have Hayden on her side.
He ruffled his hair agitatedly. “Fine, I’ll forget about this since I was the one at fault! But that woman listened to Nicole and hid the child. She said I will never see my son again if I don’t take responsibility for
my actions.”
He tugged on Hayden’s arms and begged, “Could you at least have Nicole tell me where my son is? I’m begging you. My dad has really fallen over from anger!”
Hayden frowned deeply. He was reminded of how kind Caleb’s father usually looked, and he flung Caleb’s hand away.
“I’ll help you ask Nicky, but if she decides not to help you, then just bear with it!”
After he said that, he turned and went into Nicole’s suite. He then quietly closed the door behind him, lifted his gaze, and saw that Nicole was already awake.
He walked toward her bedside and looked at Nicole’s indifferent yet beautiful eyes.
Nicole had always been someone gentle and calm. She had never gotten angry with anyone.
Hayden never expected her methods to catch him so off guard once she was provoked.
He spoke softly. “Nicky, Caleb-”
She stopped him short. With a calm expression, she said, “I heard everything the two of you said outside. Let Caleb in. Since this has to do with him, have him discuss it with me personally.”
Hayden hadn’t figured out what she was up to but went outside to call Caleb anyway.
Caleb thus came into the suite.
He soon saw Nicole in her weak state, and it made him seethe with anger. Why did she still have the energy to mess with his family when she was already about to die?
Besides, he had never told Hayden about the whereabouts of his illegitimate son. So how did Nicole find
out?
