Alex realized there was no saving the situation. With a flick of his sleeve, he walked out without even sparing her a glance. 

He’d already taken Maisie to the hospital too many times in the past few days, and every visit ended the same way. He was done 

caring. It was me who called 911 and got her rushed to the hospital. 

The doctors ran their usual tests, but, as always, they found nothing concrete. All the symptoms pointed to pregnancy, yet when 

they did an ultrasound, there wasn’t just no baby, but there wasn’t even a uterus to be found. With no answers, the doctor 

prescribed some sedatives and had her lie down. 

Once her emotions finally settled, I walked in with her medical report in hand. Maisie’s eyes locked onto me. Realizing I’d 

discovered her secret, that she was barren, her fake act dropped. 

“What are you doing here?” she spat. “You must be thrilled seeing me like this, aren’t you?” 

I said nothing. 

She took my silence as agreement and let out a bitter laugh. “Hahaha! You idiot. You think you’ve beaten me, but it doesn’t 

matter. Your good days are numbered!” 

I raised my phone and showed her the screen. 

“Maybe. But yours are already over.” 

I pulled up the screenshot of Susan throwing out her belongings and smirked. 

“Did you really think that by using witchcraft to make me look insane, you could push me out and take my place as the one and 

only lady of the family?” I leaned closer and added, “You’re funny. To Alex, you’re nothing more than a tool. Once you lose your 

worth, you’ll be discarded. 

“Before I even went back to my family, I had a private investigator dig into everything between you and Alex, every dirty deal and 

secret right down to that illegitimate child he tried so hard to hide. 

“As for what you did to me, it was a fake pregnancy hex, wasn’t it? With the master curse on you, anyone marked with the sub- 

curse suffers all the symptoms of pregnancy. And you could control me from afar, tormenting me whenever you wanted. 

“Too bad. No secret in this world would stay hidden forever. I’ve broken your curse, and now it’s backfiring on you.” 

Once the truth came out, Maisie suddenly looked terrified. She must have remembered that anyone who had their curse backfire 

would end up suffering a miserable death. 

Seeing the satisfaction on my face, she let out a crazed scream, cursing me. “Clara, you’ll die a horrible death! You’ll never know peace! We’re both daughters–in–law of this family. Why do you get to rely on a man, while I’m left widowed at such a young age? I will haunt you, even in your sleep!” 

However, her screams grew weaker and weaker as the curse inside her belly stirred violently, eating away at her last bit of life.
