She didn’t know exactly what had happened to Claudine, but as for those rotten men, wasn’t she all too familiar with their ways!
Rachelle turned up the heat in the car and took Claudine back to her place.
“Go take a hot shower first, I’ll make you some herbal tea.”
Claudine softly said, “Thank you.”
With the bathroom door closed, Claudine submerged herself completely in the bathtub.
The warm water enveloped her, like the most comforting embrace.
She hugged herself tightly, biting her lip, but still let out a whimpering cry.
She had never imagined that one day Damian would leave her out in the freezing cold, even after she had just told the world how deeply she had loved him.
Her feelings meant nothing to that man…
Rachelle heard the sound of crying coming from the bathroom.
She sighed, cursing in her heart: Men are all no good!
When Claudine finished her shower and came out, the room was already empty.
She drank the herbal tea Rachelle had made and went to the guest room to rest.
Rachelle had told her when she picked her up that she had a flight to Egyria at one in the morning. By now, she was already gone.
Late at night.
After coaxing his daughter to sleep, Damian left the bedroom.
Audrey was wearing a silk nightgown. Though not revealing, the silk clung to her body, giving her a unique allure.
Her curly hair cascaded over her shoulders, exuding charm and just the right amount of seduction.
Seeing Damian come out.
She poured two glasses of red wine at the kitchen island, leaning forward slightly. Under the lights, her appearance was enough to captivate anyone.
“Darla’s asleep?”

She spoke in a casual tone, as if completely unaware of how seductive she looked at that moment.
Damian replied with a simple “Mm” and was about to leave.
“The snow outside is heavy. Wait a bit before you go.

Saying this, Audrey brought a glass of wine over to Damian.
“You’ve worked hard taking care of Darla all these years. She always tells me she misses her dad, and as soon as we returned to the country, she insisted on seeing you.”
Damian did not take the glass of wine.
“I’m Darla’s father. It’s my responsibility.
“Tomorrow I’ll have the nanny who looks after Darla come over, so you’ll have it easier then.”
Audrey said, “Alright, I’ll do as you say.‘
Damian frowned, feeling that Audrey’s words were a bit off, though he couldn’t pinpoint exactly what was strange.
“It’s getting late. You should get some rest. I’m heading out.‘
With that, Damian started to leave.
Audrey’s eyes were full of unwillingness, but she knew she couldn’t push him too hard right now.
She stepped forward, picked up Damian’s coat, and tried to help him put it on.
But Damian took the coat from her hands himself.
Audrey’s hands were left empty. Her expression froze for a moment, but she quickly returned to normal.
“I just watched your interview with your wife. It’s obvious she loves you, Dami. Seeing you so happy now, I’m truly glad for you.
“Otherwise, I’d always worry that Darla and I were a burden to you.”
Damian said, “How could that be! Feel free to stay here, and if you need anything, remember to call me.”
Audrey replied, “Alright!”
Damian left Willow Creek Villas.
On the way, the snow grew heavier and heavier. Damian looked at the snow piling up outside the window, feeling in- creasingly troubled.
He rolled down the window, letting the cold wind and snow blow in.
He seemed oblivious to the biting cold, his deep eyes gazing out the window.
In the pitch–black night, no one knew what was on his mind.

Belmont Villas.
When Damian entered the house, it was already one in the morning.
All the servants at home were already asleep.
He went into the bedroom, only to find that Claudine was nowhere to be seen.
This woman still hadn’t come home!
Damian took out his phone and dialed Claudine’s number.
To his surprise, it was a stranger who answered.
“Are you a family member of the owner of this phone?”
Damian asked coldly.
“Who are you?”
“I’m a doctor from the emergency center. The owner of this phone is currently unconscious with a high fever. We’re on our way to Hawthorne Medical Center. Please come immediately.”

When Damian arrived at the hospital, Claudine’s condition had just stabilized.
“Doctor, how is my wife?”
“The high fever caused pneumonia. The patient is very weak and still needs observation.”
Damian was filled with guilt.
If he hadn’t left Claudine there, she probably wouldn’t have gotten sick.
“The patient did not recover well from an induced labor surgery three months ago. This is also the reason for her cur- rent frailty. After returning home, she needs plenty of rest and must avoid overexertion and cold.”
