chapter25

Whether it was Damian or the doctoral spot with Adriana Nixon, she was determined to have them both!

Claudine returned to her own apartment, her emotions in turmoil, a nameless anger roaring inside her.

She was not usually one to meddle in othersaffairs, but after hearing what Audrey had said today, she found it im- possible to remain calm.

She could even imagine how devastated that poor woman would be if she ever learned the truth.

Forget it, there are simply too many injustices in this world, and people with questionable morals are everywhere.

It’s better not to get involved in other people’s business.

Claudine thought to herself that she should have less contact with Ms. Lavigne in the future.

She cooked herself a bowl of noodles, and after eating, began reviewing the information on Keith’s collection.

The auction was about to take place, and she needed to be fully prepared.

Lindsay soon found out where Claudine lived.

When Damian heard that Claudine was living in Willow Creek Villas, right below Audrey, any trace of guilt he felt instantly vanished.

It was replaced by a surge of anger and disgust.

This woman, as always, was still obsessed with jealousy and rivalry.

Now, she had even found out about the house he had prepared for Audrey and was living right below her.

The thought that Claudine might disturb Audrey at any moment made Damian unable to sit still for even a minute.

He grabbed his coat, left the office, and drove straight to Willow Creek Villas.

At some point on the way, it began to snow. The silver Bentley sped through the rush hour traffic.

All Damian could think about was Audrey’s safety.

In his eyes, Claudine’s mind was filled only with romance and jealousy, even envying his assistant Lindsay.

Now that she knew Audrey was back, with her temperament, if she found out about his relationship with Audrey, who knew what she might do!

With that thought, Damian pressed harder on the accelerator.

He called Audrey, told her that Claudine was living right below her, and promised to take Claudine away as soon as

possible so she wouldn’t be disturbed.

On the phone, Audrey’s voice was gentle.

So, she’s your wife!”

Damian deftly turned the steering wheel, glancing at his phone out of habit.

You’ve met her?”

Audrey replied, Yes, she came to my place tonight. She just left an hour ago.”

After taking a shower, Claudine felt much better.

She glanced out the window and realized it had started snowing at some point.

She made herself a cup of hot cocoa, grabbed a blanket, and went out to sit on the balcony.

The snow outside was falling heavier and heavier, the swirling flakes drifting down slowly into the river under the streetlights by the riverside.

Everything before her eyes looked like a giant crystal ball, dreamlike and surreal.

As Claudine gazed at the scene, she found herself growing more and more fond of her solitary life.

She just wondered when Damian would finally get all the paperwork done.

Well, with all his businesses, dividing the assets was bound to be a hassle.

Actually, Claudine wasn’t worried about the division of property. After all, even though Damian didn’t care for her, he had always been generous with money.

It was just that she rarely used his money.

Now, the only thing she was worried about was her mother.

With her mother’s temperament, if she found out about the divorce, she would never accept it easily.

She would just have to do it first and explain later…

A gust of cold wind carrying snowflakes swept by, making Claudine shiver.

Her body was too weak now; she didn’t dare stay on the balcony for long.

Claudine got up to return to her room, but as she turned, she spotted a familiar figure downstairs.

That was…

Audrey?

The floor was high and the snow was heavy, so it should have been impossible to see clearly.

But a silver car drove up opposite Audrey, and its headlights illuminated her figure clearly.

She was wearing that woolen long dress from tonight, standing in the snow, looking truly beautiful.

Claudine saw a man get out of the car, walk quickly over to Audrey, and drape his coat over her shoulders.

That must be Audrey’s exhusband.

The man stood against the light, his face obscured, but his tall and imposing figure was unmistakable.

Claudine saw the man say something, and soon he put his arm around Audrey and led her into the building.

If she didn’t know the truth about their relationship, Claudine might have envied their love.

Unfortunately, while they embraced each other in love, that gentleman’s wife was probably still in the dark, taking care of their child!
