She drew the curtains, leaving only a faint light seeping through the gap.
Damian finally looked away.
He stepped into the villa, stood at the bedroom door for a long time, but in the end, didn’t open it.
He didn’t know if Desmond was right, didn’t know if he really was in love with Claudine.
In truth, he had no idea what it was supposed to be like to love someone!
But if you truly love someone, you probably wouldn’t be able to bear making her sad…
After Adriana’s exhibition ended, she accepted an interview with reporters.
She caught a glimpse of Audrey in the corner at that moment, holding her phone with a worried expression.
She called out, “Audrey,” and waved at her.
Audrey was already upset because Damian had hung up on her, when she heard Adriana calling her.
She had no choice but to respond and walk over.
Adriana glanced at Audrey, then spoke.
“Audrey, this is Journalist Mr. Hartman. He wants to learn about some of the recent directions of our Antique Restoration Research Institute. I’m a bit tired, so please have a good chat with Mr. Hartman.”
Audrey agreed with a smile.
“Prof. Nixon, please go and rest first.”
Adriana replied, “Alright.”
She slowly walked away and sat down in the lounge area nearby.
Watching her daughter confidently and gracefully facing the camera, Adriana felt as if she was seeing her younger self.
Back then, in order to survive in the countryside, she had married that brute from the Lavigne family and given birth to her daughter.
In her whole life, the person she owed the most was Audrey.
Now, heaven had finally shown mercy and brought her daughter to her side. She was determined to make up for all she owed her over the years.

She would use her own resources to support her daughter and would never let her daughter’s future be ruined by a
man.
After finishing the interview with the reporter, Audrey, on behalf of Adriana, saw off all the guests.
She thought she could finally leave, but a few senior colleagues insisted that, since it was so late, they should escort Adriana home first.
Audrey had no choice but to go with them and accompany Adriana back to her place.
Adriana must have been truly exhausted, for as soon as she got home, she lay down on the bed and fell asleep.
Everyone was getting ready to leave.
Audrey was the last to go.
At the entrance, a phone started ringing–it was Adriana’s phone, left on the shoe cabinet.
Out of the corner of her eye, she happened to see the caller ID: “Claudine“!
At this hour, why would Claudine be messaging Adriana?
Almost involuntarily, she picked up the phone and opened the message.
It was a voice recording.
Audrey instinctively glanced toward the bedroom–Adriana was still asleep.
She took the phone to the bathroom and pressed play.
After listening to the recording, Audrey was immensely relieved that she had seen the message.
If Adriana had seen that message, she would never have provided her with such a platform and resources so unre- servedly!
Without hesitation, she deleted the message.
After finishing all this, Audrey walked out of the bathroom.
She quietly put the phone back in its original place and returned to the living room.
She decided to stay, just in case Claudine sent another message or called.
She also needed to make Adriana trust her even more, so that no matter what Claudine said, Adriana would never be- lieve it!
Just as she was thinking this, there was a sudden noise from the bedroom. Adriana had gotten up at some point and was now standing at the bedroom door.
Audrey was startled.
“Prof. Nixon, what’s wrong?”

Adriana looked at her and said, “I’m hungry.”
Audrey thought she must have misheard.
“Prof. Nixon, it’s almost one in the morning!”
Adriana seemed not to hear Audrey at all and kept complaining about being hungry.
“I’m hungry, I want to cat tomato beef stew.”
Audrey had never encountered such a situation before. As she was thinking about how to calm Adriana down, Adri- ana only made more and more of a scene.
Frustrated, Audrey grabbed her hair and couldn’t help but shout.
“Can you please be quiet!”
Adriana finally fell silent, looking at Audrey with grievance.
Just as Audrey breathed a sigh of relief, Adriana suddenly started crying.
At that moment, there was a knock at the door, and Audrey had to go answer it.
Raymon was standing outside, still in his loungewear, not even having had time to put on a jacket.
“What’s going on? I thought I heard Adriana crying.”
As he spoke, he hurriedly walked into the house.
As soon as he entered, he saw Adriana barefoot in the living room, crying and saying she was hungry.
