She hated it!

She hated that she wasn’t like Claudine, born into a good family!

When Desmond called, Audrey was already dead drunk in her hospital room!

She forced her eyes open, didn’t even see the caller ID clearly, and pressed the answer button.

“Dami… you finally remembered me…”

Her voice was thick with congestion, clearly from having cried hard.

On the other end, Desmond felt a bit awkward. He cleared his throat and spoke.

“Audrey, it’s me, Desmond!”

Audrey was sitting on the floor.

She moved the phone away and tried hard to see the caller ID.

“Oh, it’s you!”

Desmond could tell something was off in her voice.

“Audrey, have you been drinking? Dami said you were hospitalized after a car accident, how can you drink?”

Audrey picked up the wine bottle beside her, tilted her head back, only to find it was already empty.

She threw the bottle to the floor, the glass making a crisp sound against the marble tiles.

“Dami? Isn’t Dami with his wife? Why would he care whether I live or die!”

Desmond knew right away that this call was the right move.

“Audrey, you’ve misunderstood Dami!”

Finding the private room too noisy, Desmond got up and went out into the corridor, ready to properly talk Audrey

down.

He couldn’t just stand by and watch Dami and Audrey’s relationship be ruined by a misunderstanding!

“Audrey, I can promise you, there’s nothing going on between him and Claudine!

Just now Dami said he wanted to have a drink with me, precisely because he doesn’t know how to explain things to you and is feeling troubled!”

Of course Audrey didn’t believe Desmond’s nonsense.

She knew perfectly well what Damian’s attitude toward her was now.

How could he possibly be worried about her misunderstanding him and Claudine.

“Desmond, stop lying to me!

“Dami and his wife are getting along just fine. It’s me, I shouldn’t have come back to bother him!”

Desmond said, “Audrey, you really misunderstood Dami!”

In the corridor, Desmond scratched his head and spoke softly into the phone.

“Audrey! You’re one of us, so I’ll be straight with you.

“A few days ago, I heard from my dad that Dami was targeted at the board meeting, apparently because he wanted to reform the group internally, but those old guys wouldn’t agree.

“I guess that today’s livestream was Dami’s way of using Claudine’s status as an auctioneer and Prof. Hutchinson’s student to boost the company’s performance, so the board would have nothing to say.

“So, all of this is Dami sacrificing himself for the company.

“Audrey, as the person Dami cares about most, you can’t have a misunderstanding with him at a time like this!

“Dami definitely cares about you the most, he’s afraid you’ll misunderstand!

“Otherwise, why would a busy guy like him come to me for a drink today!”

Audrey didn’t say anything more.

She calmed down and carefully thought over what Desmond had said.

Of course she didn’t believe that Damian was looking for Desmond because he was afraid she’d misunderstand.

But what Desmond said about Damian using Claudine’s identity for marketing-that was very possible!

Then if…

Claudine’s identity became a target of public criticism…

Would Dami abandon Claudine for the sake of profit….

Damian arrived at the club.

As soon as he stepped out of the elevator, he saw Desmond at the end of the corridor, talking on the phone.

He walked over.

Desmond was still trying to persuade Audrey. As he turned around, he saw Damian.

He knew Damian cared about his pride and definitely didn’t want him meddling in his personal affairs, so he lowered his voice on the phone.

“Audrey, I can’t talk to you now, Dami is here.”

“Just remember what I told you, understand Dami’s feelings, but don’t tell anyone!

“That’s it, goodbye!”

After saying that, Desmond hurriedly hung up the phone.

At that moment, Damian had just walked up to him.

“Dami.”

Desmond put away his phone and stepped forward to greet him.

Damian assumed he was chatting with another girlfriend and didn’t ask further, following him into the private room.

Desmond loved lively gatherings; whenever he went out, he would always call a group of people.

As soon as the door to the private room opened, the deafening music made Damian frown tightly.

Seeing this, Desmond immediately signaled to the group.

“You guys leave first!”

Everyone who came here to have fun was part of the same circle, so they naturally knew Damian.

They also knew he was someone they couldn’t afford to offend.

After greeting Damian, they all left one by one.

In the blink of an eye, the spacious private room was left with only Damian and Desmond.

Damian took off his coat, tossed it carelessly onto the sofa, and picked up the whisky on the table, drinking it down in one gulp.

Seeing this, Desmond knew he hadn’t guessed wrong.

The only person who could make Dami so troubled was Audrey!

He sat down beside Damian and patted him on the shoulder.

“Dami, we’re both men, I get it!”

After speaking, Desmond picked up his glass and clinked it with Damian’s.

The glasses made a crisp sound. Damian glanced at Desmond, finding him inexplicably odd.

But Desmond had always been like this, and Damian was used to it.

After drinking, Desmond started thinking about how to comfort Damian.

It was only then that he noticed a patch of blood on Damian’s clothes.

“Dami! Are you hurt?”

Desmond was startled, thinking the injury was serious, and insisted on finding a doctor.

Damian held him back.

“It’s nothing, just a cut on my hand!”

Desmond took a look and saw a long scratch on the back of Damian’s hand, the wound already scabbed over.

He called for a waiter to bring gauze and helped disinfect and bandage Damian’s hand.

“What happened?”

Damian looked at the wound on his hand, and as he thought of Claudine’s indifference, that stabbing pain in his chest returned.

“It’s nothing, I just got hurt by accident.”

He tilted his head back and took another drink, suppressing the bitterness inside.

Desmond saw him drinking nonstop and refusing to talk. Although he was anxious, there was nothing he could do.

Ever since that incident, Dami had become like this, keeping everything to himself.

Seeing that most of the alcohol on the table was gone, Desmond didn’t dare let him drink any more.
