Of course, she knew that Damian didn’t want a divorce now, and she also knew that everything Damian did today was to try to win her back.
But she was no longer the woman from five years ago who gave up everything for so–called love.
Now, even if Damian were sincere, she would not be moved by such a performance–let alone when Damian was only putting on a show.
They both knew very well that their marriage was nothing but a bond of interests, yet Damian still deluded himself into thinking that she would be touched by these laughable, superficial acts.
Sometimes, she really didn’t know whether to say Damian was too foolish, or if, in Damian’s mind, she, Claudine, was just that easy to fool!
But she did not spoil everyone’s mood.
After all, the real show was just beginning.
Damian had Lindsay book a restaurant, and the group drove there together.
Claudine and Damian got into the silver Bentley, and the driver raised the partition.
The spacious back seat became a closed space, so quiet that they could even hear each other’s breathing.
Damian looked at the woman in front of him; she still only showed him her back, even though they had spent a pleas- ant day together.
At that moment, Claudine lowered her head to play with her phone. The overhead car light cast a shadow over half her face, and her delicate, sculpted features looked like a masterpiece carved by a great artist.
Damian spoke.
“Thank you for your hard work today.”
Claudine kept her head down as she sent a message, responding with a simple “Mm.”
Damian didn’t know how to coax a woman. He thought he had already put in enough effort for Claudine, but clearly, it had little effect.
He would never lose his composure and ask what Claudine wanted in order to stay with him.
Because that would be beneath him!
He would never lower himself to beg a woman not to leave.

What he wanted, he would never fail to obtain.
Even if it was a true heart!
The car soon arrived at the restaurant. The group got out and followed behind Damian and Claudine into the restau-
rant.
Lindsay had already reserved a private room on the top floor.
Unexpectedly, as soon as they entered, they ran into Theodore, who was also there for dinner.
“Damian, Claudine! What a coincidence!”
Theodore still had that unruly look–wearing a black silk shirt with most of the collar undone, and with that face, he could make any girl’s heart race wherever he went.
Sure enough, as soon as he appeared, several of the young women in their group became a little restless.
Seeing this, Theodore became even more enthusiastic, directly picking a fresh flower from the restaurant’s decora- tions and presenting it to one of the girls.
The girl was an intern, already timid by nature, and had never experienced anything like this. Her face turned so red it looked like it could bleed.
Damian frowned and said sternly, “Theodore, look at yourself!”
Theodore had always enjoyed going against Damian. Now, hearing Damian scold him in front of so many people, he wasn’t angry at all. Instead, he took the bouquet and walked up to Damian.
“If Damian won’t let me give flowers to others, then I…”
He twirled the flower casually between his fingers, playing the role of the carefree playboy to perfection.
The flower ended up in front of Claudine.
“Then I’ll just have to give it to Claudine.”
“Theodore!”
Damian’s voice turned several degrees colder. Those who knew him well could tell he was already angry.
He shot Theodore a warning look.
But Theodore, of course, paid no heed to such harmless warnings.
He even shot Damian a provocative glance, then turned to Claudine and said, “Claudine, will you accept the flower I give you?”
For a moment, everyone looked at Claudine.
The employees who had come along from the company didn’t even dare to breathe loudly, afraid that a clash between the gods would end up hurting them, the mere mortals.

A few of the higher–ranking executives exchanged glances, none of them understanding what the young Mr. Barrette was up to this time.
Previously, they only knew that the young Mr. Barrette was competing with Mr. Barrette for control of the company. Now, was he trying to take Claudine as well?
Even though they were in the spacious hotel lobby, at that moment, everyone present felt as if the air had grown thin.
Claudine could sense that Damian’s gaze had been fixed on her ever since earlier.
But why would she care about Damian’s pride!
Claudine smiled as she took the flowers from Theodore’s hand and brought them to her nose for a gentle sniff.
“They’re beautiful, thank you!”
