He let go and took a step back.

Claudine breathed a sigh of relief.

“I just had dinner with a few senior classmates, nothing else. I’m going to rest now.”

She turned and walked up the stairs.

Damian watched Claudine’s back, the image of her fear and terror beneath him replaying in his mind.

He frowned, his chest feeling blocked, so agitated he could barely breathe.

Claudine’s suitcase had been delivered back together with Damian’s.

She walked into the master bedroom, found her suitcase, and prepared to rest in the guest room.

Damian happened to enter the room at that moment.

The man’s gaze fell on Claudine’s suitcase, and he quickly understood what she meant.

“I don’t accept separate rooms.”

He said bluntly.

He stood at the doorway, his tall figure completely blocking Claudine’s way out.

Damian took the suitcase from Claudine’s hand.

“Don’t worry, I wouldn’t force my own wife.

“Of course, if you need me, I’ll cooperate.’

As he spoke, Damian had already put the suitcase into the walk-in closet.

He pulled off his tie with one hand and tossed it into the laundry basket.

“Do you want to shower first, or should I?”

Claudine was already having trouble understanding what this man really wanted to do.

But she still remembered the task Mitchell had given her.

Besides, that project was very important to their entire team.

“You go first.”

Claudine wanted to look over the materials first, to think about how to bring up the matter with Damian, at least to

test the waters.

Damian turned and went into the bathroom. Soon, the sound of running water could be heard inside.

Claudine opened her laptop. On the screen was the project proposal she hadn’t finished writing.

She wanted to finish it as soon as possible, show it to Mitchell, and after confirming there were no problems, go talk to Damian.

In the room, aside from the sounds coming from the bathroom, there was no other noise.

A sudden ringtone rang out, sounding especially abrupt.

Claudine glanced in the direction of the sound. It was Damian’s phone ringing.

She ignored it.

Perhaps in the past, she would have been curious about who was calling Damian so late at night.

But now, no matter who it was, she no longer cared.

It was just that the ringing was so noisy it irritated her, making it impossible to concentrate on her work.

When the ringtone sounded for the third time, interrupting Claudine’s thoughts, she finally couldn’t take it anymore.

She got up, walked over, picked up the phone, and without even glancing at the caller ID, headed toward the bath-

room.

The sound of running water inside had already stopped.

Claudine knocked on the door.

“Your phone.”

A man’s voice quickly came from inside, muffled and a little hoarse.

“Answer it for me.”

The phone in Claudine’s hand was still vibrating. She glanced at the caller ID.

It was Audrey!

Claudine didn’t hesitate and pressed the answer button.

“Dami, am I disturbing you?”

Audrey’s coquettish, sultry voice quickly came through the phone.

“I heard you came back to Bronzevale. There’s something I want to ask you for help with.”

Claudine said, “He’s taking a shower.”

There was a brief silence on the other end, then the call was hung up.

Claudine looked at the disconnected call, her eyes cold and clear.

At that moment, the bathroom door was suddenly pulled open. A wave of steam and heat rushed out, carrying the crisp scent of men’s body wash.

Damian appeared before Claudine just like that.

He wore only a deep blue towel around his waist. On his firm, wheat-colored abs, droplets of water had yet to dry, sliding toward the edge of the towel with his breathing, disappearing into deeper places.

Like a mischievous child, the man took a step forward.

Claudine caught the scent of aftershave on him.

Damian didn’t seem to think there was anything inappropriate about their current situation.

With one hand, he wiped the water from his hair with a towel; with the other, he took the phone from Claudine’s hand.

“Who called?”

As he spoke, he opened the call log.

Claudine looked up at his face.

His pale skin, after the shower, was tinged with a flush, and his eyes were not as deep as usual.

At this moment, he seemed more unruly and charming.

But none of this was what Claudine cared about.

Sure enough, when Damian saw the caller ID, his expression froze for a moment.

As expected, Claudine curled her lips in a cold sneer.

“Your ex-wife seems to have misunderstood something. Aren’t you going to comfort her?

From her tone, it sounds like something serious she needs you for.”

After hearing this, Damian raised an eyebrow at the woman in front of him.
