Chapter 9
As soon as the assistant finished speaking, Henry suddenly grabbed him by the collar. “What nonsense are you talking about? Didn’t Kate hide Andrew?”
Seeing Henry’s disbelief, the assistant handed him a video of himself accompanying Sophie to pay respects to Andrew two days ago.
Then he added, “By the way, the villa caught fire today and Kate happened to be home at the
time…”
Henry snatched the phone, reviewed the video carefully, then shoved the assistant aside and ran
out.
Anya called after him, but Henry didn’t look back.
What normally took an hour to drive, he reached in fifteen minutes.
When he saw the destruction, he froze. The voices of onlookers and the warnings of rescue workers filled his ears.
Henry grabbed a rescuer nearby and asked in a low, urgent voice, “Did you find a woman at the scene?”
The rescuer looked puzzled. “No. The fire spread fast and covered a large area, but there were no casualties. It’s a blessing in disguise.”
Henry let go of him, his frown easing. He took out his phone and sent me a message.
Kate, don’t think I’ll pay attention to you just because you use tactics like this.]
I can overlook you setting the villa on fire. Take that kid Andrew and come back right now.]
Henry refused to believe Andrew was dead and even more, he refused to believe I would truly eave him.
When Anya arrived at the scene and heard there were no casualties, the hatred in her eyes was obvious.
‘Anya, why are you here? You…”
Henry turned and saw an unfamiliar expression on Anya’s face, which startled him. She quickly calmed herself, putting on a gentle and considerate look. “Henry, I’m so glad I didn’t die in the ire. It’s truly a blessing in disguise.”
Then she immediately turned her words toward me. “But why did set the fire, Kate? I only came back today to get the necklace you bought me. I wonder if she noticed me then?”
Henry frowned at her words. “Damn it! Kate actually wanted to kill you?!”
‘Henry, I believe she didn’t mean it. I’m not a child anymore; I can endure a little injustice. But… my child…”
Anya bit her lip and hesitated. “If Kate is afraid our baby will compete with hers, would she resort to something extreme while taking care of me?”
Henry looked uneasy. “Don’t worry, I’ll hire the best confinement nanny to take care of you. As for that bitch Kate, once I find her, I’ll lock her in the basement.”
“But what about Andrew? I saw Andrew at school a few days ago and the teacher even praised
her,” Anya said, watching Henry’s expression.
Henry’s tense face eased at her words.
“Your only priority now is to focus on your pregnancy and give birth to my child as soon as possible.”
He put his arm around Anya’s waist and kissed her in front of everyone, ignoring everyone’s presence.
