My heart 27

Chapter 27

I stood up and tried to leave, but Erwan stepped in front of me, looking at me with pitiful, puppy-like eyes. “Sister, will you listen to my explanation?”

My gaze turned cold and my tone stayed distant. “Mr. Johansson, did you come here today to discuss something?”

Hearing my detached words, Erwan’s pupils shrank slightly and his expression showed pain. “I… I can explain. I was deceived by that woman, Anya Hemsworth, and that’s why I treated you like that. When I found out you jumped, I was devastated. I even wanted to die with you…”

“Then why are you still here?” I raised an eyebrow.

Erwan reached out to grab me. “Sister, I didn’t mean to. I’m truly sorry. I can….”

“Stop.” I stepped aside. “First, I’m not your sister. Second, I’m no longer interested in judging right or wrong. Just live your life well.”

With that, I turned and went back inside, leaving Erwan alone outside.

An hour later, the sky had turned overcast. I lifted the blanket from my legs, stood and walked to the study window. Looking down, I saw Erwan still standing in the yard.

As if sensing my gaze, he looked up and I clearly saw the joy in his eyes.

To avoid any misunderstanding, I quickly closed the study curtains, shutting out everything outside.

I went back to my desk and continued reading.

After some time, a loud thunderclap woke me. I realized I had fallen asleep over my book. Thinking of Erwan, I assumed he had already left.

After dinner, I washed up and returned to my bedroom, only to find the window still open.

walked over and saw Erwan again. He stood tall and unmoving, his clothes soaked through by

:he rain.

gave him a quick glance, then closed the window and pulled the curtains shut.

The moment I did, Erwan suddenly looked up toward my bedroom.

The next morning, I got up and saw Erwan still standing there.

hadn’t expected him to have such persistence.

After calling Zion, I began packing my things.

When I finished and looked out the window again, Erwan was gone. I let out a long breath, grabbed my luggage and took a taxi to meet at the location Zion had arranged.

Not long after getting in, I sensed something was wrong. I was about to ask the driver to stop when I caught a glimpse in the rearview mirror, a pair of eyes filled with hatred and murderous

intent.

My heart pounded. While the driver wasn’t looking, I pulled out my phone and sent a message to Zion.

Only after it was sent did my eyelids grow heavy and I sank into darkness.

When I opened my eyes again, I was tied to an iron frame. Looking around, I could tell it was an

abandoned factory.

“Kate, you’re so lucky. Two men fought over you. Aren’t you proud?”

It was Anya’s voice.

I looked up and met Anya’s gaze from not far away.

“They’re just two scumbags. Take them if you want.”

I had no feelings for Henry or Erwan. One was full of late regret, the other refused to let go.

Both were only trying to ease their own guilt.

Anya suddenly laughed. “They ended up making me like this because of you. You should be happy, right?”

“Seeing me live like a rat, does it make you proud?”
