Chapter 21
As I stepped off the dance floor, someone grabbed my wrist.
I turned and saw Henry, my eyes questioning his intentions.
“Kate, listen to me. I know the truth now. I was the one who wronged you.”
“Will you forgive me and be with me again? I promise I’ll never treat you like that again. We car be fine…”
Before Henry could finish, Erwan stepped in, pulling me into his arms. His voice was sharp. “She is mine, you pervert.”
Henry’s eyes turned cold. He pointed at Erwan and snapped, “You’re just a homewrecker. Wha right do you have to scold me?”
“I’m telling you, Kate and I only had a misunderstanding. We’re not out of love. You’re still a kid what are you yelling at me for? Do you believe I can destroy your family?”
I stared at Henry in silence, completely confused.
Seeing my blank expression, Henry thought I was only sulking. “Kate, as long as you come back
can pretend nothing happened, okay?”
Meeting his eager eyes, I gave a cold, mocking smile. “Nothing happened?”
‘Henry, you make it sound so easy. You killed Andrew for Anya and now you want to pretend tha never happened, too?”
stayed by your side for eight years out of gratitude. How did you repay me?”
Those were misunderstandings. Kate, I’ve already learned the truth from my sister. You’re no after our family’s money. Anya’s sweet words just blinded me…”
Stop!” I raised my hand, the vein on my forehead throbbing. “You think a misunderstanding erases everything? You think we can start over? Or that we can go back to how we were?”
Henry, you cheated on me back then. I could have sued you and taken half your property.”
But I don’t want anything from you. Just disappear from my sight.”
With that, I left without looking back, dragging Erwan with me.
After sending Zion a message that I was leaving, I looked at Erwan. “I pulled you out because vas worried he might retaliate. Sorry for troubling you today.”
It’s getting late. Go home early. I’ll have dinner with you another day.”
As I turned to leave, Erwan grabbed my wrist. He looked at me with tenderness and pity. “I didn’
now you were so miserable before…”
Miserable?
Maybe, maybe not.
smiled, shook my head and pried his fingers off. “It’s all in the past. It’s been three years. I don’t care anymore.”
So… do you still like him?” Erwan asked carefully, guilt in his tone.
I answered without hesitation, “No. I’ll never like him again in my life.”
Henry, who had been following from a distance, froze when he heard me say I didn’t like him.
I had my back to him, unaware he was standing there.
I
Erwan lifted his chin slightly, giving me a deliberately provocative look.
“Sister, let me take you home. It’s late and I’m worried you might run into bad people on the way.”
I hesitated, then Erwan led me to a taxi he had hailed.
