Chapter 28 His Heart Is Captivated by Catherine
Catherine passed by the examination room and overheard a startled voice when she went for a body checkup. It was Michelle. “How did you get hurt? Sit down quickly!”
Catherine stopped in her tracks and couldn’t help but listen to the voices inside.
“It’s just a scratch. Nothing serious.” Harry’s voice was light and gentle, the kind that made people feel safe.
She stood outside, and her heart grew heavy.
The soft laughter and easy conversation between them made it impossible for her to linger another second. She turned abruptly and walked away.
Why hadn’t Harry finalized their divorce if they cared so much for each other? Why was he still delaying things with her?
Catherine took the report and prepared to leave after completing the checkup and confirming that the baby was fine.
However, she didn’t expect to run into Harry and Michelle on her way downstairs.
Harry asked casually, “Is the baby alright?”
Catherine nodded. “The baby’s fine.”
Her body didn’t ache anymore, but a faint pain spread through her heart.
She had promised herself she wouldn’t care and would distance herself, but his smallest gestures still stirred up emotions within her.
She looked at the pair before her and forced a smile. “Let’s go and finalize our divorce. We don’t want to keep Ms. Stone waiting.”
She was willing to let them have each other.
Catherine saw the flicker of surprise in Michelle’s eyes and smiled faintly.
She hadn’t missed Michelle’s nervous gestures when Harry asked about the baby.
Harry’s face darkened instantly at Catherine’s words. “Are you that desperate to throw yourself into Jeremy’s arms?”
Catherine flipped her hair hack and placed the prenatal report against his chest with a slightly seductive smile. “Of course. It’s better now than later in pregnancy. I wouldn’t want people to

He looked at her smiling face and was dazed for a moment before he grabbed her wrist. He noticed how much thinner she had become.
Yet, he smiled indifferently when he recalled her words. “I don’t mind being the father of Jeremy’s child.”
His words made both women’s hearts jolt.
Catherine’s smile vanished. “Harry, you’re insane!”
He laughed, yet his laugh held more anger than humor. She was such an ungrateful woman.
He abandoned Michelle to save her and even got injured. Yet, she turned on him and even berated him, claiming he was insane.
Did she truly like Jeremy that much?
Well, he wasn’t about to let her have her way.
Catherine forcefully yanked her hand free from his grip and put some distance between them. She glared at him coldly and walked away.
Harry tightened his fists. What an ungrateful woman.
Nevertheless, the look she shot him earlier thrilled him.
Compared to the meek and pliant version of her, that prickly and sharp–tongued version of her was far more effective at stirring his emotions.
“Let’s go.” He suppressed the chaos in his heart.
Michelle pursed her lips when she saw how his gaze had followed Catherine relentlessly. Harry, you’ve already signed the divorce papers. Why won’t you just divorce her?”
“I don’t want to give her what she wants.” His tone was indifferent.
She really wanted to ask if he had considered things from her perspective.

She didn’t want to keep living in the shadows as the hidden lover. She longed to stand openly
at his side.
She looked up
and could tell from his expression that he had been hooked by Catherine.
He could deny it with his words, but his eyes had betrayed him. His gaze had followed her uncontrollably at every turn.
What a pity. She couldn’t believe that Catherine was still alive even after everything!
