Chapter 16 Harry Doesn’t Love Catherine at All

Harry glanced at Catherine leaning against Jeremy and met his eyes. “What a coincidence.”

“It really is. We should all get together sometime.” Jeremy smiled politely at Harry.

Catherine didn’t think it was a coincidence at all. Harry liked bringing Michelle here, so running into them wasn’t surprising.

Jeremy wrapped his arm around Catherine’s waist as they left. Catherine didn’t bother pushing him away. If Harry misunderstood, so be it.

Behind them, Harry turned to look at the intimate pair, feeling an inexplicable displeasure he couldn’t identify.

Michelle linked her arm through his and said with surprise, “I didn’t expect Catherine and Jeremy to have that kind of relationship. But Catherine looked really pale. I hope nothing’s wrong.”

Harry’s expression darkened. “She’s not important. Let’s go.”

Michelle’s lips curved up slightly. She didn’t mention Catherine again. It was better to leave things unsaid and let Harry draw his own conclusions.

Meanwhile, at the hospital, Jeremy looked at the pregnancy test report in his hands. He silently crumpled it into a ball and threw it in the trash.

He had known about Catherine’s pregnancy for a few days and could feign ignorance then. But now, he had to face the reality.

Was she really going to have Harry’s child after how he treated her?

Jeremy wanted to persuade Catherine to give up the baby. When he glanced back, he saw Catherine touching her belly with a smile, and that selfish thought immediately disappeared.

This wasn’t just Harry’s child. It was Catherine’s too.

Jeremy walked in. “Catherine, does Harry know about the baby?”

Catherine’s smile faded at the mention of Harry. “He doesn’t need to know. This child isn’t his.

They were divorced. The child would only be hers.

Jeremy remained silent. “But raising a child alone will be very difficult.”

Catherine gave a bitter smile. “It’s better than having no one.

Her father had died in a car accident, her mother was in a coma, and Harry had divorced her. Now, all she had was this baby.

Jeremy felt terrible. If he had known Catherine would end up like this after marrying Harry, he would have fought to win her over no matter what.

For two years, he had restrained himself from looking into Catherine’s life. As long as she was happy, he could respect that and wish her well. But Catherine was miserable. She looked like someone who had been wounded beyond repair by love and marriage. She was left scarred all

over.

Harry was such a bastard! If he didn’t love Catherine, why didn’t he break up with her earlier? Why did he have to treat her this way?

Jeremy clenched his fists. His eyes were blazing with fury behind his glasses. But when Catherine looked over, the anger disappeared.

“Are you feeling uncomfortable anywhere else?” he asked with concern.

Catherine shook her head. She just had no energy and felt extremely tired. The doctor said she was exhausted, but she had been resting at home for the past two days.

Later, the doctor explained that her nerves were too tense and that her emotions had been consistently low. Catherine wanted to cheer up, but she seemed to have lost interest in everything. Work was the only thing that kept her mind off Harry.

She felt trapped in an endless loop.

Jeremy took Catherine’s hand. “Let’s go out and get some fresh air. When you feel better, the baby will too.”

Catherine almost refused, but she had to think about the baby. Both of them went to the riverside.

Jeremy gazed at the shimmering water, which reflected a warm orange glow in the sunlight. His expression softened, “Catherine, have you ever thought about moving on from this failed relationship?”
