Chapter 14 The Way He Looks at Catherine
Chapter 14 The Way He Looks at Catherine
Catherine wanted to quit on the spot. If this had happened before, she might have endured it, but now, she wasn’t alone. She had a baby to think about.
Caleb tried to persuade her. “Ms. Quinn, could you bear with it for a little longer? Just hang in there.”
Catherine closed her eyes tightly. “We’ll talk about it tomorrow.”
She still had to go to the hospital for her progesterone shots.
“Alright.” Caleb considerately opened the car door for Catherine.
Catherine tried to control her emotions, but she found she couldn’t. Her knuckles turned white as she gripped her phone. Harry was truly heartless toward her. He was even helping Michelle bully her.
Was this her punishment for marrying Harry?
Catherine rested her head against the car window. Only after getting her injection at the hospital did she calm down.
Since she couldn’t refuse, she might as well give up trying. This project had already been written off anyway. Whether it succeeded or failed didn’t matter.
After resting at home for two days, Catherine was called back to the company because Michelle
had come for a visit. When she arrived at the company, Michelle was already sitting in her
office.
Michelle greeted her. “Haven’t seen you in a few days. You don’t look well, Ms. Quinn.”
Catherine closed the office door and laughed softly. “I have you to thank for that, Ms. Stone.”
“Well, I’m quite honored then.” Michelle leaned back on the couch, looking relaxed. “You know Harry has always spoiled me, so I’ll have to trouble you now, Ms. Quinn. Thanks for all your hard work lately.”
Catherine sat in her office chair, and her expression was calm. “It’s no trouble. The project won’t succeed anyway.”
She wouldn’t let anyone affect the child in her belly.
Michelle chuckled softly. “You seem to feel quite negatively about this collaboration, Ms. Quinn. Does your boss know?”

Catherine was tired of playing these games with Michelle and spoke directly. “I won’t leave Neovara, and I won’t take your project. Using Harry to pressure me won’t work.”
“Who says I’m trying to cause trouble? This time, I’m serious about working together.” Michelle pulled out some documents. “Look, I even brought the contract.”
Catherine watched her quietly without speaking. Michelle placed the documents on the desk and said, “I’ll even pay the project fee.”
Catherine flipped through a few pages and looked up at Michelle. “What do you want?”
“I want to work with Bell Group.” Michelle stared into Catherine’s eyes. “I don’t think that would be difficult for you.”
It really wouldn’t be difficult. It would even be quite simple. But why would she help Michelle?
Michelle wanted nothing more than for her to disappear. How could she possibly make such a simple request? There had to be another scheme behind it.
Catherine pushed the contract back. “I don’t have the ability to grant you that.”
“No, you do.” Michelle hadn’t forgotten the way Jeremy looked at Catherine that day. It was clearly an adoring gaze.
It was just suppressed so deeply that others hadn’t noticed. She hadn’t expected Catherine to be so capable, actually getting two heirs from Neovara’s biggest families wrapped around her finger.
“That’s absurd.” Catherine looked away. “If there’s nothing else, you can leave.”
Michelle hummed in agreement and pushed the contract toward Catherine. “I’ll leave this here for now. You can think about my collaboration with Bell Group. I believe you can do it.”
Catherine looked up and saw the certainty in Michelle’s eyes. She wasn’t even sure she could pull this off herself, so where did Michelle’s confidence come from?
“I can’t guarantee I’ll be able to make this happen.” Catherine reminded her.
Michelle didn’t care. “Whether it works out or not, I’ll sign this contract and the project will be approved immediately, as long as you call Jeremy to discuss our collaboration.”
