Catherine’s heart sank. Her child was gone, but the still caressed her lower belly out of habit.
The towered her laptop and lay on the bed, her sorrow lingering on. With a sigh, she went to take a shower, then turned in for bed.
Once the lights in her room were switched off, Harry finally looked away. He lay in his empty room, all on his own. No matter how he tried, he couldn’t fall asleep at all.
He was no longer used to the loneline
ss of sleeping alone. As he stared at the dimly lit room, he was often reminded of all that had happened back at his marital home.
He used to be so blessed. It was a pity that he hadn’t treasured his blessings.
He returned to the Zimmerman residence immediately the next morning. Tyson rushed over immediately after hearing about the loss of the baby.
He couldn’t help but blame Harry. “How could a grown man like you fail to protect your wife and child? I’m so disappointed in you!”
Harry listened to his rebuke silently. Indeed–he truly was incompetent.
As Rachel listened to Tyson’s words grow harsher and harsher, she interjected to stop him. “It’s not like he did it on purpose. Everything happened so suddenly. No one wished for the child to be gone.”
Tyson was livid. He plopped himself down right across from Harry, exhaling heavily. “What do you plan on doing?”
As Harry looked at all these pairs of eyes that were focused on him, he realized that he seemed to be the only one, out of everyone in the Zimmerman family, who didn’t care about Catherine.
He fidgeted. “I don’t know.”
Tyson almost blew his top when he heard that. Just as he was about to give Harry another scolding, Rachel stopped him. “Alright, that’s enough, Ty. Save it. He’s feeling terrible on the inside too.”
Only then did Tyson drop the topic.
Harry retreated to his room and lay on his bed. It was only at this moment that he realized that he and Catherine hadn’t taken a single wedding photo.
Back then, Rachel kept nagging at him to take Catherine to get their wedding photos taken. Each time, he would say that he was too occupied as an excuse.
As a result, he didn’t even have a photo he could look back on now. Regret swept over him endlessly.
Harry put a hand over his eyes, feeling an inexplicable sting and tightness behind them. If only he

had realized his feelings for Catherine sooner.
He had not gone to the office for the past few days. Instead, he watched Catherine from afar.
He noticed that she smiled more often, and he witnessed how competent she was.

Caught in a trance, Harry realized how much of Catherine’s goodness he had overlooked in the past. Because of those ill feelings, he became unwilling to face her straight on. Instead, all he left for her were infinite negative emotions.
One day, he saw Catherine getting into a conflict with someone else when she was parking her car. That man raised his hand to hit her.
Harry’s eyes dimmed, and he grabbed the man’s hand.
Catherine thought that she would end up getting slapped. To her surprise, a shadow fell over her face, and she then heard that familiar voice.
“Use your words. How dare you try to hit her?”
Catherine looked up, only to find herself looking at Harry’s face.
“Who the hell are you? How is this any of your business?” the man yelled arrogantly, clenching his fist to swing it at Harry.
In one swift move, Harry pinned the man to the ground. The man cried out in pain, threatened him with a “Just you wait” before scurrying off.
In a concerned voice, Harry asked, “Are you okay?”
Catherine slung her bag back on her shoulder, then turned around to leave, absolutely uninterested in speaking with Harry at all.
Out of desperation, he grabbed onto her wrist–the one with her black, women’s wristwatch. ” Catherine!”
She looked back at her hand that was in his grasp. “Please let go of me, Mr. Zimmerman.”
Harry softened his tone. “Catherine, I have cut ties with Michelle. Plus, she and I-”
“So? What does that have to do with me? Who you are with is none of my business.”
Catherine yanked her wrist out of his grasp. The sheer force caused her wristwatch to fall off, revealing the scar on her wrist for both to see.
The scar on Catherine’s wrist caught Harry’s eye unexpectedly. He had known about that scar, but he had never cared about it before.
Catherine pulled her hand back. She picked up the wristwatch from the ground before marching off.
Harry’s hand froze mid–air. He lowered his hand slowly as he watched Catherine walk off.

How did that scar come about? It looked massive, as if it were left by a sharp object.
He vaguely remembered asking Catherine about it before. She had answered him, but he didn’t take her seriously at the time.
He frowned, thinking that Rachel would probably be aware of this. So, he called her to ask.
As usual, Rachel had very little patience for him. “You’ve finally thought of asking. I thought you’d never ever ask about this.”
