Chapter 12 Crossing Her Means Crossing Me 

Alexander and his group of friends were all wealthy and privileged young men. 

Standing there, he towered over the Francis brothers and their friends, making them look underdeveloped in comparison. 

“Alex” 

Upon hearing his words, Sadie quickly took cover beside Alexander. 

Alexander confidently said, “Sadie, you’re now the young lady of the Gates family. If you ever come across such unruly people again, just have the Gates Estate’s servants teach them a lesson! There’s no need to waste your words on them!” 

He positioned her behind him, clearly adopting a protective stance. 

It was as if the young girl were the precious gem he had lovingly nurtured in his hands. 

Neville had been kicked by him once, which made her a bit wary of him. So, he sheepishly returned to Adonis side. 

Adonis hadn’t anticipated that the screen was actually a birthday present from Sadie to Talulla. 

He watched, wide–eyed, as Alexander’s men grabbed the screen. He couldn’t help but feel his face burning with embarrassment. His hands, hanging by his sides, clenched into fists. 

Sadie has indeed changed. 

She has become so vain and opportunistic, always trying to curry favor with Lady Talulla. She has even forgotten my birthday! 

Is Lady Talulla more important to her than me? 

Sure enough. She’s ungrateful! 

He was frustrated but managed to maintain a facade of calm as he addressed Alexander with a nod. “I see. It seems I misunderstood! As for you, Sadie, why didn’t you mention such a big issue earlier? It’s led to quite the embarrassing situation!” 

Sadie’s expression turned serious. “I’ve told you many time

It was you who didn’t believe me.” 

Suddenly, the sound of a shattered cup echoed through the private room. 

Everyone turned toward the sound, only to see Oliver, who had shattered his cup and was now standing up, his face frosty. 

He stared intently at Sadie. “Apologize.” 

He was usually all smiles, a real charmer, but his mood was as unpredictable as the weather. In the past, Sadie was terrified of him.” 

Oliver had an exceptionally strong sense of pride. In the previous life, even when he entered the business world, he refused to lower his dignity. Sadie, in an attempt to win his affection and prove that she was not

inferior to Daisy, not only put herself in the spotlight to help him with business, but even drank in the of stomach cramps at the dinner table. It could be said that all of Oliver’s business partners from the previous life were personally brought in by her. 

Yet, he found her repulsively materialistic, unbearably common, not even close to Daisy, who was perfect 

In the end, when Sadie was bestowed upon the crown prince, all she received was his pitiful dowry. Yet, he had prepared a lavish dowry for Daisy, 

Reflecting on the past, Sadie wished she could slap herself. She couldn’t understand why she had been so hell–bent on pleasing these people in her previous life. 

She met Oliver’s icy and audacious gaze. 

Times had changed. 

She was no longer the little girl who used to bow and scrape before her father and brothers, begging for a shred of familial love at the expense of her dignity. 

She asked, “Why should I apologize?” 

“Why apologize?” Oliver asked, a sly smile playing on his lips. “You embarrassed Adonis in public, nearly ruining his birthday party! Don’t you know that a man’s pride is paramount?” 

Before Sadie could even speak, Alexander burst into laughter out of exasperation. 

He casually scratched his ear, lazily taunting, “I’ve always heard that a man’s respect is earned by himself, not borrowed from a woman! The Francis family’s upbringing is really something!” 

He mockingly raised his thumb toward Oliver. 

The group of scions simultaneously gave a thumbs up, holding back their laughter as they unanimously exclaimed, “The Francis family’s upbringing is truly something! Oh my!” 

Their voices echoed throughout the entire inn. 

Oliver’s face instantly flushed. His pride and dignity felt like a doormat that had been tossed on the ground and trampled on repeatedly, making it almost impossible for him to hold his head high. 

He glared menacingly at Sadie. “Are you really not going to apologize to Adonis?” 

“I did nothing wrong. Why should I apologize to him?” Sadie hugged the screen. “Let’s go, Alex.” 

Oliver found it hard to swallow his pride. He wanted to chase after, but he was held back by two scions. Alexander casually strolled up to him, 

He cast a quick glance over his shoulder, noticing that Sadie had left. Then, he turned to face Oliver from his elevated position, carrying a subtle hint of threat as someone of higher standing. Casually, he brushed off his shoulder without a hint of urgency 

In reality, he wasn’t as innocent as he portrayed himself to be in front of Sadie. 

Over the years, he and his unruly friends had been involved in all sorts of mischief, from petty theft to brawling in the streets. In Dwarven City, he had earned a reputation as a notorious troublemaker whom everyone steered clear of

He said in a low voice, “Salie is my sister. If you offend her, you offend the And If you offend me yo offend the entire Gates family. Understand? 

Even though he was younger than Oliver, he towered over him by a head. 

The few scions closely surrounding them were all noticeably taller than Oliver. 

Despite being bullied and intimidated by these younger scions, Oliver dared not provoke them due to their powerful backgrounds. 

His face fluctuated between shades of pale and red. It felt like an intense fire was scorching his chest, and an overwhelming resentment for Sadie was festering in his heart. 

A scion gave him a smack on the back of his head. “Alex is talking to you!” 

Oliver swallowed hard, taking a moment before he finally responded with a stern face, “Understood.” 

Alexander took two steps bark, a playful smirk playing on his lips as he gestured toward his face. Then, flanked by a group of scions, he made his exit. 

The room was steeped in silence. 

After an indeterminate amount of time, Neville finally voiced his dissatisfaction, grumbling, “I knew it! Nothing good ever comes when that jinx shows up!” 

Oliver hung his head, his fists clenched tightly. His eyes were sharp and piercing, as if they were laced with 

venom. 

When Adonis heard that, his face fell completely. He forced a smile and said, “Let’s call it a day for now.” After seeing off his close friends, he returned to his seat at the bar counter. “Sadie’s behavior is really out of 

line. 

“The people at the Gates Estate don’t know her true colors, and that’s why they’re spoiling her!” Neville rolled his eyes. “Just you wait and see. Sooner or later, she’s going to be kicked out! Let’s see how she can act all high and mighty then!” 

Daisy took a sip of her wine. 

Talulla’s grand sixtieth birthday was the next day. 

She remembered that in her previous life, Alexander had his leg broken by a falling beam before this. 

Why did he seem to be perfectly fine today? 

Could it be that I wasn’t the only one who traveled back in time? Was Sadie, too? 

Sadie saved him in advance, which led him to feel deeply grateful toward her… 

It seems like I need to find an opportunity to confirm that. 

She looked up, her voice gentle as she suggested, “Tomorrow happens to be Lady Talulla’s sixtieth birthday. Why don’t we join the celebration at the Gates Estate? The Duke adores Mother. He’ll surely let us in out of respect for her. 

Neville scoffed. “Why would I go to that godforsaken place where they look down on people like us? No way,

“You know what I’m getting at. Besides, all of us are way more likable than Sadie, especially Daisy Oliver flashed a mischievous grin. “If we were to visit the Gates Estate, I’m sure we’d win Lady Talulla’s heart, making everyone there completely fed up with Sadie.”
