Harland said in a distant tone, “No need.”
Hearing that, Jovana didn’t say anything else. After watching him leave, she left too.
She didn’t have a phone, so she just stood by the road trying to hail a cab, thinking she could pay the driver when she got home.
Not far away, Rhett looked through the windshield and saw Jovana. He couldn’t help but say, “Mr. Frasier, that looks like the lady from just now up ahead. Should we give her a ride?”
While speaking, Rhett looked at the rearview mirror, feeling a bit nervous.
He also wanted Harland to meet more women. After all, the Frasier family had been urging Harland to get married.
“Are you bored?” Harland looked up at Rhett coldly.
Rhett shrank a bit but couldn’t help adding, “There are drunks all around this bar, and it’s rush hour now. She can’t get a cab anytime soon. If something bad happens…”
Harland frowned and looked over.
By the roadside, Jovana really stood out with her outfit, and soon, a man went over to accost her.
Harland lowered his eyes, put down the tablet on his lap, and said to Rhett calmly, “Go ask her where she lives. If it’s on the way, give her a ride.”
Jovana was feeling worried when she saw a car coming toward her.
It was still a Maybach.
She was stunned for a second.
The next moment, the car window rolled down, showing Rhett’s face.“Hi, we just met at the bar, remember? It’s rush hour now, so it’s hard to get a cab. Where are you going? If it’s on our way, we can give you a ride.”
Jovana remembered Rhett.
She looked inside. Harland was sitting in the back seat nobly, reading emails.
She already felt bad for using his money just now, so she refused, “Thanks, but no need to bother. I can wait a bit longer.”
But Rhett said, “There are drunks all along the road. It’s not safe for a girl like you to wait alone here. We’re heading to Pelican Avenue. If it’s on your way, we can give you a ride.”
Pelican Avenue?
That was exactly on Jovana’s way back home.
And there were indeed a lot of drunks around here. It wasn’t safe at night.
But Jovana was still a bit hesitant.
Suddenly, Harland spoke up,“Come on up. I’ll give you a ride. It’s no trouble.”
Hearing this, Jovana looked around. It was really crowded during rush hour. If she kept waiting, who knew how long it would take for her to get a cab?
“Alright then,” Jovana sighed in her heart.
She said thanks apologetically and got into the back seat.
She didn’t notice that someone took a photo of her getting into a stranger’s car.
The car was driving smoothly on the road.
Jovana sat nervously in a corner, trying her best not to be noticed, but that cool woody scent still made her really anxious.
It was like the man was so close to her.
Just as the car was about to reach the villa area, a suit jacket was tossed on her lap.

“Clean it up Harland’s voice was a bit hoarse.
Jovana was confused for a few seconds. But when she moved her legs, she finally noticed something was off.
It seemed like she was on her period.
She couldn’t help but wonder, ‘Did he find out?
Then the seat under me…”
Suddenly, layers of blush climbed up her cheeks.
She pinched the suit jacket on her lap and quickly took out a wet wipe from her bag to wipe the seat.
Blushing, she said, “Sorry, I–I’ll wash it and give it back to you. Or, maybe you can give me your contact, and I’ll transfer you the money later.”
‘No need
In the dark, Harland’s expression was hard to read, and his voice was low and deep.
Jovana bit her lip in embarrassment.
She thought that the two of them probably wouldn’t run into each other again, and from the way he talked, he didn’t really care about the suit jacket. Maybe he was just being kind to help out.
Jovana kept wiping the seat.
Harland glanced at her and said in a low voice, ‘No need to wipe it. It’s fine.”
At that moment, Jovana felt really embarrassed, wishing she could just disappear right away.
“Why am I so unlucky lately?” she couldn’t help wondering.
The car pulled over to the roadside.
Jovana said thanks again. She put the suit jacket from her legs to her waist and wiped the seat with a tissue, blushing so much. Rhett felt it was a bit of a pity.
But Harland just wasn’t interested, and the two of them didn’t even exchange contact info. So, Rhett couldn’t say anything more.
But no one noticed that Harland didn’t even finish reading the less–than–five lines on his tablet.
