Chapter 5 

The courtroom fell into dead silence.

Benjamin’s wheelchair had toppled over, and he struggled to crawl up, his fingers clawing desperately at the oak floor. 

“Impossible… this can’t be…” 

His voice was hoarse and broken. Olivia trembled as she tried to help him up, but he shoved her away roughly. 

“Get away from me!” 

Benjamin’s roar echoed through the courtroom. His eyes were bloodshot as he stared fixedly at the diagnostic report on the 

screen. 

Every word on that screen stabbed at him like a knife. 

“Benjamin, let me explain…” 

Olivia tried to speak again, but Nicole sternly cut her off. “Silence! Continue playing the memory footage.” 

The footage switched to the scene of me being injected with drugs at the hospital. 

I staggered out of the ward, stumbling toward the rooftop in a

daze.

Olivia chased after me, shouting: “Charlotte! Calm down!” 

But in reality, she wore a chillingly cold smile. 

When Benjamin arrived, he saw the horrifying scene of me standing at the edge of the rooftop. 

“Charlotte! Come down!” 

I turned around with a splitting headache, my eyes unfocused: “Benjamin, she drugged me…” 

But Benjamin didn’t believe me at all back then, thinking I was just having an episode. 

He grabbed me forcefully: “Stop this nonsense! Come down 

now!” 

I shook him off and turned to leave. Just then, Olivia suddenly caught up, screaming: “Charlotte! Don’t!” 

She pretended to be pushed by me, but actually gave Benjamin a vicious shove from behind. 

The moment Benjamin lost his balance, I instinctively reached out to pull him back, but was dragged down with him.

In that split second, I used all my strength to push him back onto the platform, while the reaction force sent me plummeting faster. 

A thunderous crash. 

The memory footage stopped abruptly, and the courtroom fell silent as a grave. 

Benjamin slumped on the floor, his lips trembling, unable to make a sound. 

“Judge Williams, according to the memory footage, Ms. Parker saved Mr. Kingsley during the fall. 

“She used her own body as a cushion, which is why Mr. Kingsley only lost one leg. 

While she herself remained unconscious for three whole months, hovering between life and death.” 

Mason’s voice was calm. I looked at his face, feeling like he seemed somewhat familiar. 

Before I could think further, the gallery had already begun to 

stir. 

“That memory footage showed a clear angle – Mr. Kingsley obviously wasn’t pushed down by Charlotte!”

“My God! Have we been wrong about her all these years? She’s barely done anything wrong, has she?” 

Seeing the audience’s attitude shift, even Benjamin began to reflect. 

Olivia clutched her stomach and suddenly collapsed to her knees, wailing. 

“Even if the fall was fake, what about my 

child? 

“My only child was brutally murdered by Charlotte. He was only a month old, hadn’t even had a chance to see the world properly…” 

Olivia cried heartbrokenly, looking to Benjamin with pleading eyes: “Benjamin, you were right there. You definitely know what Charlotte did!” 

Benjamin regained his composure, his eyes widening as he looked toward Nicole with what seemed like a last desperate hope: “Judge Williams, I request to retrieve Charlotte’s memory of her murdering Olivia’s child.” 

Those few people in the gallery who despised me immediately chimed in excitedly: 

“Yes, Charlotte could even murder a month–old baby – utterly

ruthless!”

“That’s a crime, even if she was innocent before.” 

“Hurry up and show us that memory! Stop protecting her!” 

Mason’s sharp gaze shot directly at Benjamin and Olivia. He suppressed his anger: “Mr. Kingsley, Ms. Olivia Parker, this is the last time we’ll retrieve Ms. Parker’s memory. 

“If this memory still contradicts what you’ve described, please voluntarily put on the handcuffs and come with me. 

“The law will protect all innocent people, and it won’t let any guilty person escape.” 

Benjamin saw Mason’s serious expression and had nothing to 

say. 

But Olivia shrieked in protest: “Mason, you’re defending Charlotte like this – are you sleeping with her? 

“I said Charlotte killed my child, Benjamin and I both saw it with our own eyes. Why won’t you believe us?” 

Mason stared at her for a long moment, then turned to Nicole: “Begin the playback.”
