Chapter 3: Signing the Divorce Agreement

When Hazel came out of the bathroom, Constance had already left.

Sebastian took her wrist with practiced ease and placed his fingers on her pulse. “Sweetheart, let me check your pulse.”

His brow furrowed slightly. After a moment of concentration, he said, “You’re a bit weak. Where did you go last night?”

Hazel couldn’t help but recall-if she hadn’t been found in time last night, she would’ve bled out.

She looked up at his handsome, concerned face…. and the fresh, darker hickey on his neck.

Her heart twisted with disgust. She pulled her hand back. “I need some rest.”

She had barely taken two steps when Sebastian scooped her up and carried her to the bedroom, laying her down gently.

He leaned over her and opened his palm to reveal a pair of pearl earrings. “Do you like them? When I saw them, I thought they’d look perfect on your

ears.”

He held one up beside her ear, eyes filled with soft affection. “I took today off just to be with you. After your nap, I’ll take you to Drunken Cloud Pavilion, your favorite.”

Hazel’s lashes fluttered as she slowly closed her eyes.

In a dazed half-sleep, she vaguely heard him talking. When she opened her eyes, she saw Sebastian step out onto the balcony with his phone.

Her instincts screamed-it was Vivian.

Hazel clenched her hands, quietly got out of bed, and hid behind the curtains.

Sebastian was speaking gently into the phone. “I’m sorry, I was too rough last night. To make it up to you, I took the morning off and ordered you a necklace-it’ll be there soon.”

That voice. That tone. She knew it all too well. When she was upset, he’d talk to her like that-apologizing, coaxing, sending gifts-just to make her smile.

But now, all that care and tenderness he once gave her…. was meant for someone else.

So his “day off” wasn’t for her. It was to buy Vivian a necklace.

And the earrings? Probably just part of the matching set.

Hazel’s chest tightened. Her vision blurred, and silent tears rolled down her cheeks.

Sebastian’s call dragged on, so long that Hazel crawled back into bed and fell into a deep sleep. He never even noticed.

When Hazel woke up, it was already dark outside.

The room was empty. She picked up her phone and saw several messages from Sebastian.

Sweetheart, your sister’s not doing well again. I had to rush to the hospital. Be good and wait for me at home.

Sebastian knew about her family. Her parents had always favored Vivian, and she and her sister never got along.

But out of guilt and her parents’ insistence, she’d let Sebastian handle Vivian’s treatment.

He knew how tense things were between them. He’d always referred to Vivian as “your sister” and never used her name-keeping a respectful, distant tone that once gave Hazel peace of mind.

She just hadn’t realized that “distance” had long since disappeared.

Hazel let out a bitter laugh.

There was another message from Constance: Don’t forget what you promised-divorce! I’m giving you one month

Hazel replied: Get the money ready.

She walked into the study, opened her laptop, and quickly drafted a divorce agreement.

She didn’t ask for a penny. She was walking away with nothing.

Not because she didn’t want money, but because she needed this divorce fast. If she dared to ask for any assets, Constance would make a scene. Fighting the Cole family in court? She didn’t stand a chance.

Besides, she already had that one billion. That was enough.

Hazel took the agreement and headed straight to the hospital.

In the hallway. Hazel instinctively walked toward Sebastian’s office. But after a few steps, she turned and went to Vivian’s room instead.

Of course.

Just as she reached the door, she saw Sebastian standing at Vivian’s bedside. Her parents were there too.

Growing up, every time Vivian got sick, their parents were always the most concerned.

“Hazel’s here,” a nurse said when she noticed her.

Sebastian, who had been dressing Vivian’s wound, looked up in surprise. “Sweetheart, what are you doing here?”

Hazel glanced at his hand, still holding Vivian’s. “I need to talk to you. Come out for a moment.”

Yvonne scowled. “Can’t you see Sebastian’s treating your sister? Can’t it wait? You show up now, when your sister’s already hurt?”

Vivian gave a mocking smile. “The one Sebastian cares about is my sister, not me.”

Sebastian frowned. “Sweetheart-”

Yvonne shot Hazel a glare. “Ungrateful brat. Sebastian, Vivian’s short on blood. Hazel has the same blood type. Just use hers.”

Hazel froze. She hadn’t expected that. How could they think she was fit to donate blood right now? “I can’t-”

“No,” Sebastian said flatly.

Hazel turned to him, stunned.

“They’re sisters, but even with matching blood types, it’s risky,” he said calmly.

A nurse added softly, “The blood bank’s low. If it’s irradiated, it’s safe to use.”

Yvonne perked up. “Then what are you waiting for? Get her blood!”

She grabbed Hazel’s arm and tried to drag her away.

“I can’t donate!” Hazel cried.

She had leukemia. Donating blood would kill her.

“It hurts…” Vivian murmured weakly. “Am I dying…?”

“Stop talking nonsense!” Sebastian snapped.

He looked at Hazel, his expression torn. “Hazel, just this once.”

Chapter 3 Signing the Divorce Agreement

Hazel’s heart felt like it was being crushed in a vise

So the moment Vivian cried, he couldn’t bear it?

What about her?

When she said no, didn’t want to do it, was it just noise to him?

“Sebastian “Hazel’s lips trembled as tears welled in her eyes. “I have leukemia. Do you even know that.”

His brow furrowed. A shadow crossed his face. “Hazel don’t curse yourself with a he like that.”

“If you don’t want to donate, fine. Forget it.”

He turned and walked out.

Yvonne yanked Hazel by the ear. “What kind of heartless sister are you? Van’s dying and you won’t even give her a drop of blood?”

“I have leukemia too! If you don’t believe me, I can show you my report” Hazel shouted

Yvonne sneered. “Then go donate. Let’s see how taxic your blood really is.”

Hazel couldn’t take it anymore. She shoved her away and stormed out

She ran to Sebastian’s office and saw him on the phone. When he noticed hey, his expression was still cold.

She knew that look-it meant he was pissed.

Because she refused to donate to Vivian?

She took a deep breath and walked over. I need to talk to you

Sebastian covered the receiver. Seeing her take the initiative, he assumed she was here to apologie

She was always reasonable, always kind,

Of course she’d come around.

He softened. “Hazel, I know you were just mad at your mom and said all that stuff on impulse. You’ve always been compassionate-you’d help a stray dog if you saw one. There’s no way you’d let your sister die ”

“Come on, let’s go draw your blood. I promise it won’t hart.”

Hazel couldn’t believe it. Even after she told him she had leukemia, he still didn’t believe her. He still wanted her to give her blood to Vivian.

She yanked her hand away. “I’d rather die than donate to her.”

It would literally kill her.

Sebastian’s expression turned cold. “Harel-”

She sneered. “When did you become so devoted to my sister?”

“Tm a doctor,” Sebastian said firmly. “Saving lives is my duty.”

“Is that so?” Hazel said, voice dripping with sarcasm.

Sebastian sensed something was off. He frowned, just as the person on the phone called out to him again.

He turned back to the call

Hazel took out a document from her bag. “Check this. If everything looks good, sign it

Sebastian grabbed a pen and, without even glancing at the page, signed his name in the bottom right corner while still talking on the phone.

“Yes, get me AB-type blood. We’re short here.”

“I’ve got a critical patient. I’ll wait here. The sooner the better.”

Hazel stood there, pale as a sheet, watching him sign the divorce agreement without even looking-completely focused on Vivian.

At that moment, her heart turned cold.

So this was how it ended.

Seven years of marriage, and when it came time to sign the divorce papers, his mind was still on another woman.

Sebastian dropped the pen without looking up. “Head home first. I’ve got things to handle. I won’t be back tonight.”

He walked right past her, never even turning around.

Hazel’s legs gave out slightly. Her eyes were filled with despair as tears streamed down her face, landing on the divorce agreement.

All the light in her eyes died. She whispered, “Sebastian… it’s really over between us.”
