Chapter 16: She Would Never Be Jealous Again

Hazel hadn’t expected Sebastian to pull something like this.

Wait-did he not like that type?

Then she realized what she was thinking and gave herself a wry smile. The old her would’ve thrown a fit from pure jealousy.

Back when they first started dating, Constance tried everything to break them up. She even sent women straight to Sebastian’s bed.

Hazel had been furious.

She’d once stormed in and beaten up one of those women, and Sebastian had stood behind her the entire time, letting her vent. The moment the woman tried to fight back, his gentlemanly facade would vanish-he’d grab her wrist in a vice grip.

Once Hazel had calmed down, he’d smile and cradle her hand in his palm, blowing gently on her knuckles. “Does it hurt? Silly girl, I’d never betray you. Don’t you trust me at all?”

She did.

Of course she did. But that trust had been a joke-she’d just been played like a fool.

Now, seeing Constance pulling the same old tricks and introducing women to Sebastian again, Hazel didn’t get angry. In fact, she found herself wondering-was this really Sebastian’s type?

Or had he lowered the bar entirely now?

She found herself genuinely curious.

Then Sebastian pulled her closer protectively, as if afraid she’d be upset. He leaned in and whispered by her ear, “Babe, I swear I had nothing to do with this. I don’t like her. I didn’t know anything about it.”

Hazel replied flatly, “Got it.”

Sebastian had been bracing for her jealousy. But when she genuinely didn’t care, it left a sour taste in his mouth.

“You’re seriously not jealous?” he pressed.

Hazel gave him a half-smile. “Not at all.”

She wasn’t going to let herself be shaken by him ever again.

No matter how painful, she had to let go.

This one-month cooling-off period-they’d agreed to it so she could clear her head and fully move on.

Sebastian felt a strange hollowness in his chest, like he’d just lost something important. He was about to speak again when Constance’s voice rang out from the other room.

“All right, you two had enough couple time at home? You still can’t stop?”

Sebastian sighed. “Mom, if there’s nothing else, Hazel and I are going to head back.”

But Hazel spoke up suddenly. “I’d like a word alone with Mom.”

Sebastian gave her a surprised look, while Constance nonchalantly waved Hazel toward the study.

In the study, Constance sat upright with her usual superiority. “What is it you want to talk about?”

Hazel pulled a document from her bag and placed it in front of her. “This is the agreement you promised me. Please sign it.”

Constance glanced at the paper-a clear written promise that once Hazel and Sebastian’s marriage was dissolved, Constance would transfer ten billion into Hazel’s personal account.

She gave a nonchalant shrug and placed the document aside. “I get it. You can go now.”

Hazel had expected this. Smiling politely, she said with quiet determination, “If you don’t sign today, I won’t leave.”

“I’ll just cling to Sebastian for the rest of my life. As long as I don’t file for divorce, he’ll never leave me.”

“Let’s see if Miss Danni is still willing to be someone’s mistress once she finds out.”

“You-” Constance’s expression darkened instantly. She glared. “Don’t push your luck, Hazel.”

Hazel smirked. “You were the one who made the promise. There are only twenty days left on the divorce agreement. If you’re backing out now, I might as well rip it up and be done.”

One look at Hazel’s calm, ruthless eyes told Constance she wasn’t bluffing.

She was dead serious.

Grinding her teeth, Constance snatched up a pen. “Fine. I’ll sign!”

“But you’d better stay away from my son for good. Don’t cling to him like some cursed ghost.”

She signed the paper and pressed her fingerprint on it.

Only then did Hazel finally feel relieved.

Constance then called Sebastian into the study. As Hazel stepped into the living room, she locked eyes with Danni.

The woman gave her a haughty once-over and sneered. “You’re not good enough for Sebastian.”

Hazel’s brow twitched.

She’d heard that line more times than she could count and had long stopped replying.

Everyone seemed to think that way. And honestly, she used to think the same. Sebastian came from wealth, status, and had a promising future. Of course she looked like she was the one reaching too high.

But not anymore.

Now, it felt insulting.

She’d graduated from a top medical university. She was kind, principled, and professional in her work.

Compared to a man like Sebastian-pretending to be a gentleman while cheating behind closed doors-he wasn’t worthy of her.

“Miss Danni,” she said coolly, “what makes someone ‘worthy’ in your eyes? Must they be as wealthy as the Cole family?”

“If that’s the case, is your family fortune on par with theirs? And what about your morals? You’re trying to seduce a married man-does that make you worthy?”

“If you want to speak like a decent person, learn how to be one first.”

Her voice was calm and steady-but every word landed like a slap.

Danni’s face turned pale, then flushed red with rage. She grabbed her purse and stormed out.

Back in the study, Constance eagerly asked, “Well? Isn’t Danni perfect for you?”

Sebastian frowned. “Mom, what are you saying? I’m married to Hazel. Why would I be with Danni?”

‘m not that kind of scumbag.”

Constance scoffed. “You’re not a scumbag? But you’re sleeping with Hazel’s sister, and that’s fine?”

Sebastian’s face darkened. His voice grew tense. “Mom, what are you even talking about?!”

Ever since Hazel demanded a divorce, Constance had suspected their marriage was in trouble. And if it had reached this point, there had to be cheating involved.

No one knew her son better than she did. She’d had him investigated first-and found proof of his affair with Vivian.

She didn’t care much for that sickly girl, but if Vivian could be the wedge to break Hazel and Sebastian apart, she was more than happy to look the other way.

She said bluntly. “Every man cheats. Since you’re already with Vivian, why not consider someone else too?”

“Danni’s father is now a rising giant in the domestic pharmaceutical industry. If we join forces through marriage, it’s a perfect match. You could even start moving into politics. You wouldn’t need to stay in surgery forever.”

Sebastian’s voice was low. “Surgery is my dream. Vivian and Danni aren’t the same. What I have with Vivian isn’t what you think.”

“Mom, whatever happened today-Hazel can’t find out. You have to keep it a secret!”

Constance looked at his nervous face and sneered in her heart.

Your wife probably already knows.

Sebastian stepped out of the study, heavy-hearted, and saw Hazel sitting alone on the couch watching TV.

He walked over and asked softly, “Where’s Danni?”

Hazel didn’t look away from the screen. “I pissed her off. She left.”

Sebastian chuckled.

He knew it.

Hazel wasn’t indifferent. She still cared.

She still loved him-she was just pretending not to.
