Darrell didn’t deny it. He only said, “Lucy’s friends are my friends.” 

“I thank you for the offer, but I won’t insult you by having you pay for my bill tonight,” Valerie said. “The more favors I owe, the more difficult it is to repay them all.” 

“Lucy will repay all favors owed,” Darrell replied. 

Valerie smiled but said nothing more. 

At the side, Lucius happened to notice the two conversing. Though he couldn’t identify what exactly they were talking about, he still felt irritated seeing how close Valerie and Darrell were. 

Sonia’s several attempts to chat up Lucius were continuously ignored. She was feeling terrible right now, growing angrier by the second. 

Now that her parents‘ scandal had been publicized, her perfect reputation was utterly ruined. Even now, she failed to understand why the video she’d intended to upload had disappeared. Why had the Woodward family’s scandal been publicized in such an outrageous manner instead? 

The auction began while Sonia continued going around in circles in her mind. 

The first item was a beautiful oil painting from a famous artist. Its starting bid was 300 

thousand dollars. 

After a fierce round of bidding, a wealthy businessman ended up winning the bid with an amount of 900 thousand dollars. 

The second item was an ancient ceramic bowl from centuries past. It had been kept in pristine condition and had a starting bid of 600 thousand dollars. 

Valerie rested her chin on her hand, nearly nodding off. She wasn’t interested in ancient 

artifacts. 

Lucius couldn’t help but tease her when he saw how sleepy she was. “Did you spend all that effort to get on this ship just so you could take a nap here?” 

Valerie opened her eyes and drawled out, “Did I ever tell you that you have this faint fragrance about you that always draws me in?” 

Lucius stiffened immediately. 

Luckily, no one else had overheard her words. To them, Lucius and Valerie were just having a normal conversation. 

Valerie’s smile was incredibly dazzling. “Waking up in your arms is part of my morning

routine. People tend to have a series of reactions once they’ve grown addicted to something. Do you know what reaction I have toward you, darling?” 

Even though Lucius knew Valerie was toying with him, his heart still stirred because of her words. He calmed himself and pretended to ask nonchalantly, “What kind of reaction is it? Tell 

me.” 

Valerie giggled. “It makes me want to sleep for days when I see you.” 

She covered her mouth with one hand and yawned tiredly. It was this small unconscious action that stomped on Lucius‘ hope. Sure enough, Valerie had tricked him once again. 

He wrapped an arm around her slender waist and gently squeezed her soft skin. He spoke into her ear, warning, “I’ll teach you a proper lesson once we’re home.” 

Valerie continued fanning the flames. “Alright! We haven’t finished our game from last night. Why don’t we continue it? That way, we can finally catch who I’m cheating on you 

with!” 

Lucius remained silent, seemingly clueless as to what Valerie was talking about. 

Their intimate behavior made Sonia grow incredibly jealous, having been left out for some time now. She grew all the more curious now as to when Valerie started sleeping with Lucius.
