A look of admiration appeared on the foreigner’s face. “What a pity. Here I thought I had a chance.” 

Lucius gently punched the man’s chest. “There’s a saying we have here–bros before hoes, always.” 

The foreigner then pulled Lucius to the side and quietly said something to him. Only then did the foreigner leave with his men. He even waved goodbye to Valerie before he left. 

Though Darrell didn’t understand Mankriti, he still noticed something curious in Valerie and Lucius‘ interaction earlier. He shot Valerie a questioning look. “What were you two talking about?” 

Valerie smiled. “We were just saying hi to a friend.” 

“Are you afraid of telling him the true nature of our relationship?” Lucius purposely asked 

Valerie in Mankriti. 

“Firstly, I don’t want to. Secondly, there’s no need to,” Valerie replied in kind. 

Darrell cleared his throat and reminded them by saying, “You two can converse in our language now that the foreigner has left.” 

Valerie was about to speak when Lucius suddenly reached out to touch her headdress. She 

instinctively dodged his touch, but Lucius held onto her with an arm around her waist and said, “Don’t move. Your headdress is loose.” 

Lucius then gently adjusted Valerie’s headdress while all the guests looked on. Admiration was clear in their eyes as they saw the tenderness in Lucius‘ actions. 

Sonia was the most humiliated one here. Even though she was brought on board as a translator, she couldn’t even communicate with the foreigner earlier. She felt so awkward 

because of it. 

What was more unbearable for Sonia was that not only was Valerie conversing smoothly with Lucius, but there was even deep affection between the two when they interacted briefly. 

Only when Valerie’s headdress was secured did Lucius let her go grudgingly. 

“I need to tend to some guests now. I’ll come and fetch you later,” he continued in Mankriti. 

When Lucius walked past Darrell, he said to him in Mankriti, “Look after my wife for me.” 

Darrell shot Valerie a questioning look as he watched Lucius leave. “What did he just say to me? 

”

Valerie suppressed the urge to roll her eyes. “He said he’s more good–looking than you are.” 

Darrell was left speechless.

Later, Valerie was in the middle of enjoying her meal in a corner of the buffet restaurant on the ship. She opened her phone to a video call, and a pretty, short–haired woman appeared 

onscreen. 

“Enjoying the cruise, Val?” 

Valerie beamed as she ate some carpaccio. “I’m sure you know I am based on how happily I’m enjoying my meal.” 

“Is Darrell not with you?” Lucinda asked. 

“He went to have a chat with an acquaintance,” Valerie answered. 

When she saw how unbothered Lucinda was, Valerie teased her, “Aren’t you going to ask me whether this person is a man or a woman?” 

Lucinda snorted. “There’s plenty of fish in the sea. I can always get a different fish if this one betrays me. I’d never beat myself up over something like this.” 

Valerie chuckled, though she did feel a little guilty now. “Thank you for lending Darrell to me tonight, Lucy. I’ll be sure to lend you my man without cost in the future should you need him.” 

Lucinda rolled her eyes at Valerie. “Where’s your man, then?” 

At that, Valerie raised her phone camera to aim it at a corner of the deck a distance away. “Let me know which one of them catches your eye, and I’ll have him sent to your house right away 

tomorrow.” 

At that moment, a handsome man suddenly appeared onscreen. Lucinda then said, “This one’s pretty handsome. I’ll take him.” 

Only when Valerie took a better look did she find out it was none other than Lucius himself. Valerie quickly said her goodbyes before hanging up the video call.
