As the Shore family argued, Gerard’s assistant burst into the hospital room, his face as pale as a sheet. “Boss, we found out who attacked Mr. Eugene at the club that night. It was Mr. Lucius White.” 

At the mention of Lucius‘ name, all the Shores blanched. Why on earth would Eugene have crossed him out of the blue? 

Meanwhile, at Azure Bay, Lucius was about to chat with Valerie after her livestream ended when he got word that Delia had shown up unannounced. He groaned, feeling exasperated. Why couldn’t his siblings ever give him a moment of peace? 

He exchanged a look with Valerie. “Come meet her with me.” 

“No, thanks.” She wasn’t interested in dealing with any of the Whites.

He slipped an arm around her waist insistently. “You’ll have to meet them eventually.” Delia was Lucius‘ second sister and was 52 this year. When Melvin was younger, he’d fallen gravely ill and had spent three months in the hospital, where he’d had a fling with a beautiful woman. 

Ten months later, she’d given birth to a stunning daughter. Like Julius‘ mother, the doctor thought a child would secure her a spot in the White family. However, Melvin was at the peak of his jerklike ways and had no interest in marriage or commitment. Naturally, there was no way he would’ve promised the doctor anything. 

The doctor, in a fit of rage, had left the country with the child. 

Delia didn’t return to Windmere until she was 20, after her mother’s death. Melvin didn’t treat her any differently just because she was his daughter. Like his other children, he gave her an education fund to ensure a comfortable life, nothing more. 

The year Delia got married was the same year Melvin made headlines by marrying Kate. The fact that the father and daughter were tying the knot in the same year had been the talk of the town back then. 

Though Lucius wasn’t thrilled to see Delia, he didn’t kick her out, either. 

She’d done a good job at caring for her appearance, so she looked like she was in her early 40s despite already being 52. 

When she saw her dashing younger brother descending the stairs like some regal figure, she felt an inexplicable wave of nerves. His every step carried an invisible weight that pressed down on her. 

He looked like the perfect gentleman on the outside, but she knew how ruthless he could be. 

To Delia’s surprise, Lucius had a striking woman on his arm. Even though he was her brother, she knew better than to pry into his personal life. 

She said, “Luciu 

urgent.” 

sorry to bother you at this hour. I just really need your help with something 

Lucius gestured to the couch. “Sit.” 

So, Delia sat stiffly while Lucius, his arm still around Valerie, settled across from her. Instead of pressing Delia for details, he called for Kara to bring them breakfast. Valerie had been so focused on her livestream that she hadn’t even eaten yet. 

Kara had always been sharp, so every meal she prepared, she would also make sure to prepare a portion based on Valerie’s tastes. That day’s breakfast was a balanced meal of eggs and toast with baked beans, some greens, and a glass of milk. 

Valerie glanced at Lucius. “Aren’t you eating?” 

He said, “I have a lunch meeting.” 

She didn’t say anything else and picked up her cutlery, digging in. She ate without concern, completely ignoring Delia, as if she were invisible. 

Only then did Lucius turn to Delia. “Let’s hear it, then.”
