After lunch, Lucius received a video from Keane. It featured Skyler and seven or eight men smashing up the front gate of Serenity Residence. 

Then, something strange happened. 

The men, armed with tools, suddenly turned on each other as if they were under some kind of spell. A chaotic brawl broke out among them and plunged the scene into disarray. 

As the noise in the video continued to play, Lucius lost interest in watching further and asked Keane, “What happened?” 

Keane’s expression was just as complicated. “The old mansion you intended to buy from the Woodwards was officially transferred to Ms. Collins‘ name a while ago. Apparently, Ms. Woodward discovered the secret behind the property and convinced her father to get it back by any means necessary. 

“The video you just saw was captured through a security camera near Serenity Residence. 

“I’ve carefully studied the footage and noticed that Skyler and his men appeared normal before they started vandalizing. But the moment they began attacking the gate, it was as if they were possessed and instantly turned on one another.” 

It never occurred to Lucius that Valerie was the owner of the old mansion he’d been eyeing. They’d even discussed it over breakfast that morning. 

What had been her reaction back then? A sweet blessing for his family’s future prosperity and an abundance of descendants? 

At that, Lucius let out a low chuckle. Not only was she an enchanting little devil, but she was also a sly fox who loved putting on an act. She’d played innocent and teased him, assuming he might be interested in the old mansion. 

Keane was confused by his amusement. “We could find a chance to talk to Ms. Collins, Mr. White. She’s an understanding lady, so if you offer a fair price, perhaps she might be willing to sell the mansion to you.” 

Lucius shot him a glance. “Is it necessary to draw such clear lines between husband and wife?” 

“Huh?” Keane blinked, caught off guard. It took him a second to process and realize that Lucius was right. Since the two were married, there was no point dividing things so neatly, and that made things far simpler than negotiating with the Woodwards. 

Although the situation worked in Lucius‘ favor, Keane couldn’t resist asking one more

question. “From the sound of it, does this mean you’re prepared to spend the rest of your life. with Ms. Collins?” 

Those who worked closely with Lucius were no fools. Ever since the incident on the cruise ship, Keane had noticed a clear shift in Lucius‘ attitude toward Valerie. 

Now, he wanted to learn more about her past and paid close attention to her every move. He’d even started showing emotions whenever her name was brought up. 

Deep down, Keane drew a bold conclusion–Lucius had fallen for Valerie, whether he realized 

it or not. 

After entering the last line of experimental data, Valerie stretched her arms above her head. A glance at the security monitors showed Serenity Residence’s gate. Skyler and his men were long gone. 

There was another car parked outside. The window was rolled down to reveal a man sitting in the passenger seat–Lucius. 

She frowned slightly, puzzled. What was Lucius doing at the gates of Serenity Residence? 

She checked the security footage on her phone and discovered that his car had been parked at the gates for over two hours. Yet, he hadn’t moved an inch the whole time. 

Pressing the intercom button, she said, “Since you’ve graced my humble abode with your presence, would you care to come in for a cup of coffee?”
