Chapter 121Â
Watson threw himself over and knelt at Lucius’ feet. “Mr. White, for the sake of the old days, please spare me.”Â
Lucius glanced at him. “As Caelus’ cousin, strictly speaking, you should be calling me uncle.”Â
Watson looked both flattered and terrified. “I wouldn’t dare to presume any kinship with you,Â
Mr. White.”Â
Their statuses were worlds apart. In front of the illustrious Lucius White, Watson felt unworthy to be even mentioned in the same breath as him.Â
Lucius asked, “How did the punishment feel?”Â
Terror filled Watson’s eyes. The methods in the punishment hall were endless. They didn’tÂ
kill, but they made living feel worse than death.Â
“I will never forget it for the rest of my life,” Watson stammered.Â
He had never expected that the once pampered Lucius to grow into someone like this under the pressure of time.Â
Lucius asked, “Do you want more?”Â
Watson shook his head violently. “Please have mercy, Mr. White.”Â
If they kept going, he would probably die.Â
Lucius sat in a chair Silas had brought over. Then, he folded his legs and looked down atÂ
Watson.Â
“I hate the smell of blood. That metallic and foul scent disgusts me. And having those cold instruments of torture used on my relatives? To be honest, seeing you suffer makes me feel bad, too.”Â
He extended his hand, and Silas immediately handed him the blood-stained whip.Â
Lucius took the long whip and hooked Watson’s chin with the handle. “I remember our childhood ties. Tell me who put Caelus on that yacht, and I’ll let you out of this door in one piece.”Â
Watson trembled all over. “I don’t know. I really don’t know.”Â
Lucius lashed out, leaving a long whip mark across Watson’s face. “If you won’t speak now, don’t ever speak again.”Â
He shot Silas a look. “Cut out his tongue and feed it to the dogs. Then, take everyone we caught tonight and send them to Black Mountain Coal Cellar.”Â
At those words, Watson’s heart quivered with terror. He couldn’t even feel the pain on his face anymore as he shouted, “Even if we broke the law, the court is the one with the right to punish us!”Â
He had heard of Black Mountain Coal Cellar. It was there that the White family sent their condemned men. The place was known to be a hell with no return. It was a fate worse thanÂ
death.Â
He would rather be imprisoned than be sent there.Â
Lucius looked like he had just heard a joke. “Do you know why only Caelus was arrested? As a ruined pawn, someone would find a way to silence him, even if I didn’t act.Â
“You are different. Your value is so much lower than Caelus’ that nobody would notice even if you completely vanished.”Â
Only then did Watson understand why there had been no warrants issued for grunts like them after Caelus’ arrest. They had been left right where Lucius wanted them.Â
Seeing Lucius stand up to leave, Watson panicked. “If I tell you everything, will you spare me?”Â
Lucius looked back. “You only get one chance.”Â
Watson hurriedly gave them a name.Â
Lucius and Silas exchanged glances when they got the answer.Â
So, it was him?Â
